Will they take special requests at POR?

Hi there, I'm staying at Port Orleans Riverside in a couple of weeks and I booked through a travel agent but I thought about calling the hotel and making a few special requests for the rooms.

I just wondered if others out there have found them accomodating and if my requests are a good idea.

We'll be having 2 rooms with children (5, 9, and 11) in each room and wanted the rooms to be side by side or very close because we'll be babysitting between the rooms. I know the resort is very spacious and dread the thought of being a 10 minute walk from the rest of our family.

Also I would like to be close to the bus stop just to help get the kids to the busses on time and getting the sleepy ones back to the room without too long of a walk.

Do you know if this resort is good at accommodating these types of requests? Is there a certain building I should ask for to be in the most convenient spot for the bus route. I have visited the resort but am not familiar with the bus stops.

thanks

Im pretty sure that if you made the two room reservations together that you have a really good chance to have adjoining rooms. Actually I have heard that when the room assigner starts those rooms are assigned first. I assume you have your confirmation number, call CRO and ask to have prefrences added to your room reservation. Also fax the same request in 3 days before your arrival date. Remember the more requests you make and the more minor details they are will reduce your chances of getting the ones you really need or want. This is my previous experience but I always meke all my own reservations and dont use a travel agent.

You made a great choice with Riverside! It is a great hotel.

There are multiple bus spots (4) so chances are good you will be near one. In my experience going there (its been a few years though since I've been there) they do try to fill all your requests. I would call the hotel directly(I don't have the number offhand) and make you requests. And also when you check in remind them about them and they should be able to accomidate you. Although you may have to wait a little bit for your rooms to be ready if none are side-by-side and vacant at the time of your check-in

Enjoy your trip!! :)

We were at POR last June and were traveling with another family. When we made our reservations we requested a adjoining rooms for our kids (6 and 5&8) and we did get them. So I would say they are very accomidating to a point. We were in Aligator Bayou number 26, corner room 2664. 26 is a little far away from the main lobby/rest. and from the parking lot, but very quiet. We drove to all the parks so I don't know about the nearest bus stop.

We are going back again to POR this June same week. Enjoy your stay!

Just want to clear up some mis-information. You can certainly make special requests, however you will have to call your travel agent and have him/her make those. Since the reservation is technically owned by your travel agent, he/she booked it through the travel agent website or phone line, which means Reservationists at the DRC can ONLY give/take/modify these reservations from the travel agent, through the TA only phone line or website. However, you're welcome to make them at the front desk, but I do suggest doing them in advance.

To Confirm...

Just wanted to back up Typhoonguy, as he is 100% correct.

We have been instructed at the Reservation Center that ALL of the Disney Resort Hotels will no longer accept or consider any room request faxed or mailed to them. If you try to call the resort directly before you check-in, the switchboard is instructed to redirect your call to the reservation center, not the front desk.

Also, as Typhoonguy stated, if you booked through a travel agent, only your travel agent can add your request to your reservation, we at the DRC cannot even acknowledge your reservation in our system.

Adjoining rooms and connecting rooms are 2 different things. Adjoining just means they are next to or near each other. If you want a connecting door, you need to specifically ask for connecting rooms with a connecting door. This is something we found out the hard way. We asked for adjoining rooms and though our rooms had an adjoining wall, there was no door to connect the 2 rooms. (This was at POR.) We went to the front desk and were told that we should have asked for connecting and not adjoining. It was Christmas time a few years ago and all the resorts were at capacity.

we satyed at the ASMO in may and booked throguh a travel agent, we were traveling with members of my family and i called the front desk about 2 weeks before our trip and requested rooms next to each other and we got them when we arrive, i think they will be especially willing to do it if there are children are sleeping alone in the other room
