Will lights, motors, action get new cars?

Rumor has it that Disney is buying the animation company that produced Monster House.quote]
Sony?:lookaroun

A little homework can be helpful when trying to take a stab at someone.

A company called Imagemovers formed by Robert Zemeckis was the production company responsible for the film. Sony was the distributor and provided the proprietary motion capture technology. Spielberg and Amblin Entertainment were also involved.

Apparently, Mr. Zemeckis is not happy under the Dreamworks leadership and is talking with Disney about placing the company under their wings.

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
The GTO isnt a Grand Prix (but it does look like one)

That was my point. :)

In any case, I'm sure if they DID use GTOs - which may or may not have been part of the plan for the US show at some point - it would just be the same design car they use now with a GTOesque shell on it.

The GTO is an extremely wide vehicle (as compared to the Opel).... extensive mods (to the show gear... or the GTO) would need to be made to get it to fit (and hit) the various ramps right, to do the jumps.

In any case, the GTO in its Monaro configuration will be discontinued after the 2006 model year. The GTO will be dropped until a new GTO, based on the new Camaro architecture is produced (this hasn't been officially announced but widely rumored). The new Camaro will debut late in 2008 as a 2009 model. Continuing, it, the old or the new GTO, would not be a practical show car for LMA in the show's current rendition due to weight and size concerns. GTO's, have though, been used for drifting demonstations and competitions; does Disney have this in mind for a future car show? (I kind of hope not, as drifting, in my opinion is just a waste of good tires making a lot of smoke and little else.)

This thread made me gasp for a few minutes, thank god its not true. That would be like replacing a jetski with a cabin cruiser. The GTO's wheel base would never lend itself to that type of stunt show.

I really wouldn't care if they did....I found this show to be too long, too slowly paced and frankly boring.

Send it back to France!

How about we put the old houses on wheels and have THEM do stunts ! :D
 that would add a whole new dimention to moving house. :D :lookaroun

i think that LMA is awesome, though it is a real shame that the old houses had to go for it,now,i was thinkin.wouldn't it be possible to ad some more land behind catastrophe canyon and put the houses there.so that we can have the best of both worlds.LMA and have the BLT extended again.
to me the BLT has just got boring with nothing to see.

Maybe they are just replacing the bodies, the outer of the cars are just a fiberglass shell. Maybe they are updating the look?

That would still be a huge difference the body of the goat is huge compared to the opels. If you slapped that body on the frame the wheels woulden't line up.

You know almost all new Saturns are going to be rebadged Opel/Vauxhalls now? The Saturn Sky is a rebadged Opel GT / Vauxhall VX (though we got it first (the Pontiac Solstice is a platform-mate, but not a rebage)) and the Saturn Aura is a rebadged Opel Vectra. The new Opel SUV will be coming here next year as the new Saturn Vue, and there's rumors that the Ion will be replaced with the Astra (edit: rumors no longer: http://www.autoblog.com/2006/08/14/saturns-version-of-opel-astra-to-hit-next-year-ion-gets-stay-o/ ). Looks like GM really wants to move Saturn upmarket to compete with the likes of VW.

Maybe LMA's vehicles will be relabeled as Saturns?

Very well said. Not to mention the GTO would just be a lot more to maintain. Tires are more expensive being almost twice the size, and fuel is a major concern these days.

exactly. if nothing else tires would be a huge reason, 13 inch or so tires they use on the opel's are much cheaper than the super wide high performance tires they'd have to purchase for the GTO. Way more than double the cost, and would wear quicker probably.

Pontiac GTO.. No way!! These are good old fashioned Aussie muscle cars known and manafactured as the Holden Monaro. Imagine that Australia exporting muscle cars to the USA! Saw these on the back lot tour of MGM studios in Feb last year. My eyes nearly popped out. Have some fantastic video of the tour that never fails to raise eyebrows back down here.
The show wasn't open when we last visited but I'm sure looking forward to seeing it in December this year. I'll love it anyway regardless of if they sit there looking pretty or are driven in anger. Actually although I am an ardent Holden fan I can vouch for the fact that they don't handle rough treatment at all well OUCH!!

I've been hearing for a while that Pontiac GTOs will be replacing the Opels in Lights, Motors, Action. They've been telling people that on the BLT and you can see the new cars sitting in the practice area. I was just wondering if anyone knew if or when this is going to happen.
The GTO's are used for driver warmup/training/practice... and for fun :D

They won't be in the show

Now for the cars...

...they are rally cars with Opel sheet metal. They share nothing with the street cars.

RWD, Rear engine 1800CC Turbocharged Hayabusas :D, 4 forward gears/4 reverse gears, non locking handbrakes, full roll cage.

Plus why would they have american cars in an italian setting. I would think they would use cars that are found in Europe.
The Holden Monaro is made in Australia, and exported to the US as the Pontiac GTO, the Middle East as the Chevy Lumina SS Coupe, and in Britain as the Vauxhall Monaro.

I would loooooove to show up in that thing at an auto-x. Just needs some sticky tires instead of those wacky ricer drifto tires they use!

The current GTO incarnation stinks! Its a frickin rebadged Grand Prix with a bigger power plant. Whoop-de-doo!

Wrong... wrong... wroooooooooooooooooooooooong

Platform is a derivative of the Cadillac Catera (predecessor to your CTS Jer;), which is a mildly modified version of the Opel Omega Platform from Europe.

The engine is (at the most recent iteration), the GM Small Block LS2 (Gen IV for the aussies) from the Corvette, with a Tremec 6 speed manual (or nasty GM slushbox).

Did I mention it's Rear Wheel Drive?

It ain't your friggin Grand Prix rebadge Jer :D

made a booboo... mid engine, behind the driver. Not in front of the driver like a Maserati.
