Will Harry Potter 2.0 be open by late 2014?

I know it's probably far too early to be discussing the possibilities of a phase 3, especially when phase 2 just started, but does anyone have any idea what their plans are with the Lost Continent? Are they saving it for a potential Harry Potter expansion in the future? another franchise all together? or are they going to try and keep LC there as is and/or possibly add a new original attraction to it at some point in the future?

you want even MORE potter? i think they wil have enough after this!

I didn't state that anywhere in my post... nor did I think it could somehow be taken as such. I asked because I know LC was talked about to one time being taken over completely by potter before plans were revealed for 2.0 to be placed in studios.

It's more curiosity on my part. LC is probably the weakest land now ( though I still love it) so I was just curious hence my series of questions...

I hope that Lost Continent sticks around for a few more years (there's still Jurassic Park/Seuss Landing expansions in IOA, plus various expansion pads in Universal Studios) - we still haven't got around to seeing Sinbad/Poseidon's Fury, and they are specifically on the plan for next time (staying onsite for a night so will be able to get FotLP, allowing us more time to see the shows in both parks, which we haven't seen!)

Ehhh...those are the two attractions in the park that I will actually tell people they shouldn't be worried if they can't or don't want to fit them into their day. The show is probably just more because it isn't my cup of tea, but Poseidon...beautiful on the outside, great concept, but the execution is a more than a little lacking now (heard it was much better its first few years). I would miss Mythos, though, so for that alone they can leave those two if it means keeping Mythos.

Taking out the children's attractions that we have never done (Me Ship, The Olive, Pteranodon Flyers, Camp Jurassic, Oh! The Stories You'll Hear, If I Ran The Zoo, A Day in the Park with Barney, Curious George Goes To Town, Fievel's Playland), we still have the following that we have never done...
  • Animal Actors on Location!
  • Beetlejuice's Graveyard Revue
  • Delancey Street Preview Center (probably will never see)
  • Despicable Me (NEW since last time)
  • Poseidon's Fury
  • The Eighth Voyage of Sinbad Stunt Show
  • The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride!
  • The Mystic Fountain
  • Universal Orlando's Horror Make-Up Show
  • Universal's Cinematic Spectacular: 100 Years of Movie Memories (NEW since last time)
  • Universal's Superstar Parade (NEW since last time)
...so the above, plus anything new that will be built by the time we go will be going to the top of our list!

Yea I think no matter what you're safe. I'm sure there is nothing on the books for LC in the near future (aside from the couple of tents they're tearing down to put in the Hogwarts express). Anything that might be done would probably be more long term (If they plan on doing anything at all). In the more short term it looks like there is the possibility of getting additions to JP or Seuss Landing as you stated.

Again it was more curiosity on my part. I hope it doesn't seem as if I'm never satisfied. I like hearing about plans and discussing what Uni might do in the future. As Martin said, we should enjoy the 2 e-tickets and TF that are being built at the moment, and I am. I just thought the future of LC could fit in the discussion of potter due to previous speculation, before it was revealed that 2.0 would be placed in studios. Figured I could use that connection between the 2 areas to discuss ALL potential possibilities for that area.

Regardless of what they do with LC, it looks like Uni has enough on their plate to keep us all excited for quite a long time, especially if we throw in what Martin and Spirit have said/ alluded to in other threads :)

Edit: added some things in to clarify and to make sure my words aren't twisted

so i took this out of context?:

I know it's probably far too early to be discussing the possibilities of a phase 3, especially when phase 2 just started, but ...

phase 3 of what then? i can only take that to mean more potter because they've had stages 1 and 2... lol.

I really hope they do something different with LC other then potter. You don't want to overdo it...

i completely agree. i mean i've not seen potter phase 1 yet but looking at the pictures it does look good, i just think that adding it to another park, and then going back to add even more to phase 1 is just way too much. but obviously this is only the opinion of 2 people.

Right, but that line doesn't say anything about me WANTING more potter. Discussing the possibility of something isn't the same thing as saying you want it to be done. From reading my first post you could have just as easily said "you want a new franchise there?" or "you want them to keep the land unchanged?", etc, and all of which would have been incorrect as I've yet to express any sort of opinion on any of that. I was just wondering what could be done in LC and I was listing the possibilities to see what other peoples thoughts were on LC and what they wanted to be done with it.

The way I look at it, potter phase 2.0 is very likely to be a huge success so I'm certain there will at least be some sort of discussion going on within UNI to expand potter again in the future. Whether those discussions will lead to anything, who knows?

That's why I simply stated it as one of many different possibilities.

That's it. I probably shouldn't have even made a big deal out of your post, sometimes I can get overly defensive when I feel people are putting words in my mouth or twisting what I say. So I apologize for that. There obviously was a misunderstanding/misinterpretation of my post, which again I shouldn't have made a big deal out of anyways, so hopefully everything is resolved now. :)

Edit: Altered my post a bit

I'd rather see Lost Continent's attractions get tweaked than the entire area be rethemed. The current land is well themed and there's a potential for good attractions with those themes. They just don't currently exist. Plus it's nice having something based on simple mythology rather than a hip intellectual property. With a 2nd phase already replacing Amity, the last thing we need is more Potter.

Honestly, what much more can be done with Potter??? Godric's Hollow??? Forbidden Forest??? I don't know if any of these places are places people want to visit in the HP universe... Hogwarts, Diagon Alley, and Hogsmeade really are the only areas that I think anyone would want to visit...

Yea I agree, I like having a land that is more original and without the emphasis of a major franchise. I think the theme they have going in LC has plenty of potential, and I hope they can find a way to keep it. Even as is, I think LC is still a nice looking area, just not much to do there. With more limited space to work with than before, I'm not sure if it will ever be able to live up to what it once was unfortunately.

I would rather see JP expanded than LC though that land really isn't utilised.

Have they thought about doing a potter show..l. Would that even work or more of the question would JK Rowling even allow such a thing?

They aren't allowed to have actors dressed as recognizable characters. Hence why WWoHP doesn't have any sort of meet & greet.

For the better, in my opinion.
Makes the "world" seem larger and more authentic.
Besides that, I can't imagine it being that easy to find talented Michael Gambon look-a-likes who will wear robes and hug kids all day for minimum wage.
