Will Fantasyland Expansion get more TREES?

I mean, it all looks pretty barren. Surely they would put some more greenery there for when SDMT opens, right?

It's so green!

It's.... a parking lot? Not exactly inviting.

Easy solution...plant some trees. And how about a few fenced gardens and lawns right where that big bare slab of concrete is?

I think it will feel fuller when the trees grow out more, but there should be some more trees when SDMT opens. It does feel pretty wide open in that picture, but it's good for crowd movement, I guess.

I still don't get the point of those weird arches they plopped down for no apparent reason. At first, I thought I'd get it when the FLE opened, but no. Now I'm hoping they will make more sense when the SDMT opens. Also hoping that the area will feel less cramped when that opens and the walls are down. I don't know when it's supposed to open, though. In the spring?

I'd like more landscaping everywhere. They need to freshen and beautify the parks (except the AK, which is pretty.). IMO.

The "castle walls" are supposed to make you feel like you're leaving the castle/surrounding village and entering the enchanted forests. To make it feel this way, you'll need more trees on the other side, though...

I had always thought of them like a gateway into the Enchanted Forest part of the expansion.
But...since there really is no forest there (Enchanted Clear Cut Settlement), they are just out in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks, guys! I didn't know that.

They do not serve their purpose, lol. At least to moi, they just look like weird arches taking up space.

If you stand back against Philharmagic you will see how the mine train is framed through the gates. I think you may see many shows and performances in the expanse to the north of the merry go round in the future when the mine train is finished. The grounds crew can always move potted trees into the area to break it up when it feels too open.

FettFan, I don't think your two pics are really a good comparison. First off, the wide open area shown in the photo is barely in the concept art aerial. (The walls are at the very bottom of the concept art, and the baren space is south of that)

I agree that the open area between the carousel and the walls is a bit open and barren and something should really be done, to say that there are no trees in the Expansion isn't quite correct. There are a lot of trees around Belle's cottage and back toward the castle. Some need to grow in a bit. And there's bound to be a lot of foliage to go in with the completion of the Mine Train.

Some more trees would be nice, but the openess is kind of nice too. I guess I'm wishy washy on this subject tonight. Maybe they just need some more benches, but then again I like benches in shady areas so we need more trees.

I don't mind the openness, as it gets pretty packed so it's not noticeable. However, trees would be nice just to provide shade, and as a bonus they look nice, but mainly shade will be good.

So, there are three parts of this.
Part 1, perspective. The two pictures that you are comparing are taking from two completely different angles. The castle walls would block a similar number of trees in the 1st picture if it was drawn from a similar angle.
Part 2, artistic license. Remember, all of those rolling grassy hills in the background need to be removed and replaced with what truly exists, trees and swampland.
Part 3, A HUGE section in the middle, and the subject area of the second photo you've chosen to use, is still under construction and unfinished. A full "mountain", likely complete with trees and grass, is nothing but wire and steel right now. Given the abundance of trees in the other areas of the FLE expansion (check out any of the recent aerial photos from Scott Keating for reference), I'll give them the benefit of the doubt on this until they've completed and opened this area.

I think there is water (streams?) yet to go in as well which will also provide aural ambiance. Really looking forward to the final product!
