Now that she has been named Paula's replacement on American Idol???

Will they just move the AA from Universe of Energy over to host the show now???

I think that was a terrible move by Simon Fuller. I predict an initial increase in ratings that will eventually fall below its average.

I agree. While Paula was insane, she at least knew about singing and the like. Ellen seems like a desperation move for continued ratings success.

Hopefully this will be the downfall of AI.:drevil:

Funny...

I DON'T like Ellen, but agree - weird choice. Guess I'll get a few hours a week back during Idol's run this spring.

You are as much of a liar as anybody else that says they will not tune in.

I will really miss the fighting between Paula and Simon, but they really toned down the staged fights quite a bit this year.

First I had heard of this. Ellen may not be a good judge of talent (or she may--does anyone here really know? Doubt it), but she's a great entertainer. Isn't that all that really matters?

Either way, I still won't watch the show...

Maybe on Last Comic Standing.......but AI? Yes, I get the fact that she can be the voice of the public, but the public already gets all of the say in the votes as it is and we use the judge's opinions to reflect our vote so why do we need a judge not qualified to judge a singing competition? She'll barely make it through this season and Simon wouldn't harrass her like he did with Paula...

It's not that I miss Paula (I wouldn't miss AI if it left either....) but she was part of the original trio. Classic AI like Kelly Clarkson....

I won't tune in. Never watched a show of AI in my life, save for the DHS attraction.

Sorry, "tune back in".

if you never tuned in, this would not change your viewing habits.

Comment directed to viewers now claiming to be former viewers.

Sorry about the mess-up.

I don't hate Ellen by any stretch and I think she is great in the Universe of Energy, but this is a total "jump the shark" moment for AI. This is the beginning of the end, IMO. What are they thinking here?

I'm pretty sure they jumped the shark last season when they added a 4th judge. This is just a continuance of the downward spiral.

To those who don't think it's possible to quit this show, trust me, it is. I haven't watched since the Taylor Hicks debacle. Life is good.

I agree, while I like AI, I really don't know what they're thinking here. What DOES Ellen have to do with singing?

And why do they have to have four judges this season? I thought having four last season was a nice change of pace, but I think its better as three. So Paula leaves, but that leaves Randy, Kara, and Simon. I'd be fine with just that, adding Ellen as the fourth is totally unnecessary IMO.

I wouldn't discount Ellen just yet. While she is promoted as a comedian/actress; she may just show that she has knowledge of that music industry also. In the late '70's; her brother was in an up and coming band named The Cold. They had quite a few gigs here in New Orleans although they never got quite as big as Zebra did. They were more on the lines of the Producers, Missing Persons, B-52's. I don't remember if she was in the band because I was only in my tweens. She may surprise you. Or she was thrown in for comic relief? Idk

For the convenience of guests, WDW is going to add the word "Stitch" or "Ellen" to all of its inferior attractions, so we'll know which ones to avoid.

For the record, I think Ellen will make the show even more worth watching. She's the most hilarious person on the planet, while at the same time having the gift of being brutally honest with people.

Anyone could qualify as a judge. All of us at home certainly think we know who can sing.

Nothing can be worse than David Hasselhoff judging America's Got Talent.
