Will Disney close DHS?

Well let's see , they close, Indy, the car stunt show, sounds dangerous, Hollywood and vine, American idol, world of animation, jack sparrow, the backlot tour and streets of New York area this is what i read I could be wrong. Besides all of the construction and detours around the park will be uncomfortable at best.
Seems like a lot for guest to deal with?

Thank you @POLY LOVER, that's the info I was looking for!

I suspect that the vast majority of guests to WDW purchase a multi-day pass so that they can visit all the parks. My guess is that the number of people buying a DHS-only ticket is quite small in comparison.

With that said, I believe the difference between a 3-day and 4-day standard pass is around $30. JMO, but that is not to difficult to justify even with the closed attractions.
Spot on I was going to say something very similar. Although no doubt there are some people who attend WDW and buy a one day ticket for DHS I'd wager that number is incredibly low.
Disney doesn't want single day guests anyway, all of the single day tickets are hugely overpriced this generates a perception of greater value in multi day tickets.
It's all about greater profit, it makes financial sense to do everything possible to encourage all guests to take multi day trips.

They should do something though. If the park had more attractions it would be one thing. It's small and sparse. It won't feel like it has as much value with out something. My advice?

Open Mos Eisley's Cantina, now. Just take over some existing space, skin it, make it happen, or just build it first. Build some sort of "bridge" to Star Tours and Jedi Training. Put some costumes and memorabilia out there. Star Wars fans love that. Have the Star Wars character meet and greets year round. Do this now. It will keep people engaged.

On the other side of the park, again, bridge the areas together better, with characters, and some pop-up solutions. Keep this part of the park together through the construction. The problem with doing this much work in one small park is holding it all together.

its going to be a tough few years unless they do something like you say. Imagineers start imagining how to hold the place together until opening day.

Could the Halloween thing they do at DHS possibly be expanded? Seems like having these events like Star Wars Weekend and Frozen Summer help keep the park popular, add in a couple more and I could see that diverting attention from all the closed attractions for the common guest.

I know that some people do purchase single day tickets to one park, but honestly, what percentage of visitors is that? Compared to those with multi-day tickets, park hoppers, annual passes, and the like? And among those who do purchase a single day ticket, I'd almost guarantee you that virtually all of those are to either Magic Kingdom or Epcot. I just can't imagine that there are a lot of people buying one day tickets to see Hollywood Studios and then being let down based upon the number of open attractions.

I still think there is plenty to see and do at Hollywood Studios to make it worth a full day in the park. And even if there isn't, the majority of people visiting it have plenty else to do with the rest of their day and aren't there on a single day ticket. So I could see no justification for closing it during the expansion. Which we all know Disney won't do anyway, making this discussion moot.
