Will anyone miss the turnstiles?

Hi Everyone,

I just got back from a very short trip to the World this weekend to run the marathon, but I did get a chance to spend a day at DHS. Needless to say, I was super excited to get a chance to spend the day at WDW. I really couldn't walk (because my legs felt like they were going to fall off) I decided to go to DHS for the day since it's the easiest to get around (IMO).

As I approached the entrance I was surprised not to see any turnstiles! Now I probably should have put two and two together and realized with the new FastPass+ that they wouldn't need them anymore, but I have to say it was a little strange not going through the turnstile gate into the park.

The turnstiles always had this feeling of a last hurdle to get through before you we're totally inside the magic. Now it's just the FastPass+ station and then that's it, you just walk through. Maybe I'm just being nostalgic about another piece of WDW that's gone, but I was wondering if anyone else felt that way.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but it was something I wanted to throw out there. And just an FYI, I will be posting a short, but hopefully interesting, trip report about my short visit.

I won't miss them at all, as they always caused a bottleneck when triple wide strollers arrive and the CM had to hustle to guide the parents pushing them through the gate along side anyway.
However, though it's not at the front gate, if you still want the nostalgia of the turnstile, I think they still have an original old school one at the bottom of the PeopleMover ramp. Wonder what happened to the two they had in the HM queue till recently? Wonder how high the odometer read on those when they removed them?

I work in NYC about one day a week. I think I can get my turnstile fix there. Same stroller problems and everything too.

Lines are just as long with that flashing Mickey ball-thing as they were with turnstiles. It seemed to me that part of this was due to MB's being unreliable and a large number of people had to have their details checks with a CM and their Ipad.

If they wanted to speed things up, here's a suggestion: Do something with that pointless bag search.

I know I'm probably the only one, but I will miss them quite a bit. The two things I remember about my first trip was sitting right outside of the Magic Kingdom looking at the park map and walking through the turn styles when I was 5 years old. I do find the new touch to enter system really cool though.

Was just in MK (12/28) and I did not see a turnstile by the TTA. Is there one? I will miss the clunky barricade/hurdle feeling that it was the only thing standing between you and the park. The relief felt when you got through just isn't there with the MB entry.

Maybe one turnstile or two turnstiles off the main pathway (i.e. by town hall) for those of us with nostalgia so we can show the kids what we had to endure in the past. I also miss the black light exit handstamp. Can't they offer it next to the old-style turnstiles, with a black light, changing the designs (rotate among parks), and maybe even incorporate it into sorcers game.

Yes definitely. I was in the MK last Thursday and went through it. Funny, I noted that it was the old-style turnstile.

Word is that the TTA will be getting a refurb soon and part of that will be to alter the moving ramps. Probably the turnstile will disappear there as well.

It doesn't really matter to me. I will say this, when I would leave the park, I always felt a little down as I passed through that barrier on the way out.

I, too, suffer from Turnstile Separation Anxiety (TSA, has another meaning but I don't remember what it is). In order to cope, I have turnstiles installed throughout my house. Further, I have got some local businesses to put them in and I had installed behind my office door at work. I may travel to WDW with a portable one if it is allowed. My pet name for my favorite turnstile is Fred.

Your ideas interest me and I would like to subscribe to your newsletter. How much would you charge to come install turnstiles in my house?
