We will be going to WDW this September and staying at Wilderness Lodge. We've never been to the WL at all. Could you tell me all about it. And BTW this will be our first deluxe stay! Thanks in advance.

My favorite WL activity/moment was the Duck races. I don't even know if they still have them. They have rubber duckie races in the stream that leads from the lobby to the pool. Each child is assigned a number of a duckie. All ducks are dropped in the stream- the kids are encouraged to "quack" along to make their duck go faster. The winner gets a prize- that day it was 1/2 hour on the water crafts at the dock. Woo-hoo! (Tours of the resort, etc.)

They were doing duck races when we were there this past March.

Soon-to-be-Hubby and I will be there in September for our honeymoon!! While we've never stayed there before, we have visited plenty of times and this resort holds the most "Disney magic" for me. From the absolute beautiful and serene surroundings to the close proximity to MK, I knew that WL was the only place to stay at. Enjoy your trip.

My favorite time of day at the lodge is around 7:30 in the morning. The sun is still coming up and I go down to the Boat launch and its so quiet and relaxing. Its nice to just go down in that direction to just relax.

Question about Accommodations

We'll be staying at WL in a Courtyard Room w/ Dining in September. I am looking at flights and would like to take a late afternoon/early evening flight home. Last year, at GF, we were able to do the park in the a.m., then come back and swim for a couple of hours after checking out of the room; we were able to shower in the pool house at GF to get ready for the trip back home. Are there similar facilities available at WL? I would like to stay as long as I can!!

You must have been there after us because the pool was still closed.

We were there once and the lifeguard blew the whistle for the duck race and all the kids jumped out, well 2 families of ducks came out of the bushes and jumped in! It was hysterical! :ROFLOL:

We were there March 24/31 and the pool opened a day or two before we arrived. I was so happy :D

I seem to recall shower facilities in the bathrooms by the Villas pool- which is right next to the gym/spa area. To my knowledge- there are none at the main pool.

We have eaten there a few times, and seemed to wait way too long for the busses, have they gotton any better? We will be eating there at WC and I don't want to go through that again.

Loved it! One of our favorites! They consider it a "Romantic" resort but there are as many kids there as anywhere alse and the lobby can get quite noisy with the Whispering Canyon Cafe. That said there is the lounge and WONDERFUL restaurant "Artists Point" We always eat there when we stay there. The theme is the Pacific Northwest and it has THE BEST gift shop!!

My DH and I will be first-timers to the WL in December! :sohappy: I cannot wait!

Quick Question: Does the boat to MK make a stop at the Contemporary as well or is it a straight shot to the park from the WL?

There are two launches. The smaller launch goes from WL to Contemporary, sometimes swinging over to Ft. Wilderness en route. The larger launch goes directly to MK. Enjoy WL - it truly felt like a second home to us. We're returning in October! :animwink:
