Wilderness Lodge View

My family will be taking a trip to WDW in Dec. and we are thinking about staying at WL. while checking for room availability they offered two options for rooms Courtyard View or Woods View. The price difference isnt much but I think both of these views would be amazing. If anyone who stayed there have any preference they would like to share it would be greatly appreciated... thanks...

nevermind i just found the links about it in forum search.. sorry new to the board just learning all the great things this site has..

I haven't stayed at the Wilderness Lodge since '95, but our room had a view of the pool and beyond to the lake. I suppose that this would be considered the courtyard view.

I recall this to be quite a beautiful view, but the best part of this particular view came late one evening:

After returning to the room for the night, we turned on CNN and purely by happenstance, observed the Space Shuttle lifting off. I knew that our view faced east, so I went to the window to see if I might see anything. Sure enough, over the horizon rose a ball of fire that was the Shuttle itself. I couldn't keep my eyes off of it, as it was one of the most impressive sights that I had ever seen.

Now, it's highly unlikely that you'll see a Shuttle launch, but that particular resort with that particular view will always hold that memory for me.

I think the Woods View, for us, faced out to the quieter pool/ Wilderness Lodge Villas. Very relaxing, and sometimes wanted to sit out on the patio more than I wanted to hit the parks!

My family are staying in a two-bedroom Villa when we stay in May. Does anyone know what the options are for views? We requested a water view if available, but the reservation person wasn't sure of what the options were.

The only bad view we ever had was overlooking the smokehouse...try to be above the third floor.

For our last stay in December, I got the clarification that a view of either pool is a courtyard view. My preferences have been our wooded view rooms that were on the fourth floor facing the MK. We were there during Grad nights and I actually caught the 1:00 a.m. fireworks from our room. Due to flight delays and a very late check-in, our courtyard view room was on the 2nd floor over looking the roof of the hallway between Roaring Forks and the elevator. The view wasn't the greatest, but the location was great being close to the elevator. Our next stay we will reserve a wooded room because it will be at peak rates and for 7 or 8 nights. We can then spend the more than $300.00 savings on something fun rather than the room that we don't spend a huge amout of time in anyway.

We stayed at the WL this past Dec and booked the woods view, and requested facing the MK. This was great as we were able to view Wishes from our balcony on a couple of nights. Even better was the special Holiday Wishes with the panaoramic fireworks. We could see it all at once instead of standing in the middle of it (next best thing to being there).

WILDERNESS LODGE ROCKS!

Don't be fooled by the "WOODS" and "COURTYARD" view games they play!

A guaranteed courtyard view can be worse than a woods view and vice-versa!

I've had amazing woods view locations overlooking the private pond and nestled high in the pines near the lake. I've had courtyard rooms that had completely enclosed rock patios wiith hardly a view of the courtyard.

After that I began just taking the woods view and have had great woods views (ie. no parking lot or dumpster views) or have been "upgraded" to a pseudo-lake or pool view.

No matter where we stay, the sheer beauty of the place overwhelms us and we rarely have time to look out the window anyway.

You're gonna love it anyway, so why pay more???

If you don't like the view from your room, get outside and live it!

We will be staying at WL for the first time this fall. I want to make sure we have a good view. I can look at a parking lot anytime without spending so much money. Do all rooms have balconies?

WL water view?

 Hi. We have stayed at WL a few times. Twice when we requested a courtyard view, we got a balcony with a bunch of trees in front of it and thats all we saw the whole time there. Just to let you know. I would stick with the wooded view next time. Other than that, its a beautiful place to be. Be sure and eat at Whispering Canyon cafe and ask for ketchup. so funny. plus, you can go out in the lobby on another floor and still see the MK fireworks out the window. We did. The geyser is cool, too. Plus, you can ride the boats for something different. :sohappy: Main thing is, have a magical stay. P.S. I think they all have balconies, though small.

First floor rooms (actually a level down from the lobby) have a patio. Some have open balconies (bars) and some have closed in balconies. We actually like the solid balcony better.

There are A LOT of bad views at Wilderness Lodge. I think I had one over the smokehouse. But the few views that are good are spectacular! It's great to have a view overlooking the pool/Bay Lake area.

I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge last year. We had a Woods View room facing the Magic Kingdom side. We were able to watch Wishes from our balcony/bed and did so a few nights when we were back at the room "early". We overlooked a cute little pond and saw ducks out swimming each morning. It was a nice view. The only thing I would suggest, is that if you really want to watch Wishes, to request to the front desk that you would like that view (if you pick Woods of course), preferably in a room that's on like the 4th/5th floor. We were on the third floor and thought that if we were up even just one floor, our view might have been much better since a lot of the fireworks were blocked by the trees.

You'll have a great time no matter what view you pick!

We always take the 6th floor on that side. I love overlooking the little bog with all the wildlife! Ask for rooms along __022 thru __032 with the ___ being whatever floor you like. We like 6030 or 6032 as you can see the MK and be near an elevator (it takes you just outside of the laundry near the Roarin'Forks.

We're going July 6-12 and have already requested the 5022-5032 range. The last time we went we were upgraded to a courtyard view on the ground floor. Not much of a view, but it was still nice.

We have never specified a room view at WL, just went with the standard rate. Everytime we have stayed at WL, though, we have been upgraded and I have never had a bad view. I say that and watch...we will get a bad view next time we stay there.

For me it does not matter what view i have because I dont spend much time in the room. But my personal preference would be courtyard. I like watching people swim. I am a people watcher so thats exciting.
