Wilderness Lodge question

I just got off the phone with a RUDE guy from Disney World Travel Agency. Anywho he told me that with my annual pass I could not get a discount on a Courtyard view room. That makes NO sense. Has anyone ever booked with an AP and got a discount on a courtyard view room? It stinks that I have to wait until September to even find out how much of a discount I get. How are you suppose to plan if Disney doesn't even know what's going on??? :shrug:

Unfortunately it is possible he is correct. Inspite of the fact that people may have been able to book them before. Not all room types are opened up for discounts, all the time. Not even the resorts are all opened up for discounts all the time. I do not know what formula they use, but it is true. It is worth calling back and making sure though. I have come across an un-informed CM making reservations on occasion. Be prepared to get the same answer though.

I am a little confused as to what you are actually doing...so I just want to clarify. Are you looking to get a passholder rate that is available already or are you looking to get a rate for a season that hasn't been released yet. If you are trying to get something that hasn't been released then no matter what you won't find anything. Also, if passholder discounts have been released for the dates you are looking for it is possible that a certain room is not available. They could be sold or or just not releasing that type of room. Discounted rooms for Annual Passholders are not guaranteed.

When Disney analyzes their booking for upcoming months, they use a formula based on room occupancy. Depending on the forecast, they may release AP discounts - HOWEVER - just because they release these discounts doesn't mean they are available for every resort and every room type for all days within the specified travel dates.

For the dates you are looking for, all of the WL Courtyard rooms are probably sold OR they have reached a percentage of occupancy that puts them out of being available for the current discounts.

FYI, the current AP discounts are out from now thru September 27, 2008.

FYI, I see you are planning a trip for December 13-19, 2008... Wilderness Lodge is one of the first resorts to fill to capacity during December due to its theming for the holidays, and therefore, there are almost never any discounts for the WL in December.....if there are, they are few and far between, I have even seen blackout dates on promotions during December.

We just received AP holder rate specials this past weekend $49.00 pn at value resorts $99.00 pn moderate for last week of August and most of September, no mention of deluxe resorts other than call for other specials.Maybe no deulxe specials this time?:shrug:

^^That's interesting about the AP promotional email you received this past w/e. I received one on 6/18 offering $64 on value resorts and $99 on moderates (like your offer, mine didn't list deluxe resorts).

To the OP: I've stayed at WL around your same dates in 2005 and 2007 (woods view), but was unable to snag an AP rate. As others have mentioned, WL is popular, therefore not many rooms are allocated to discounts (AP or other). Keep trying - you might get what you want eventually. Good luck :wave:.

AP discounts are never guaranteed, it is simply a perk of buying an AP. For good AP rates you need to be flexible as to where and what room type you are willing to take. That said, you can get some really great discounts during many times of the year.

I am a Fla Resident and sometimes even an AP holder. Since I plan ahead (OCD), I do wish they would release the special rates earlier. It's hard to schedule work for me and DH plus coordinate my son's school and sports schedules into the future with sometimes only 30 days notice. I typically book when we decide at whatever rate I can get then change it when the rates are published. A lot of times we can bump up from a Moderate to a Deluxe by doing that. We are wanting to go in December, but right now the rates are only out through September. I know it's all relative to capacity and bookings for Disney.

Its possible the rooms where just sold out. That has happened to me many times in the past.

I am going in December so the rates for discount on rooms for annual passholders hasn't been released. I just want to make sure I know how far in advance I will know. I heard you don't find out the discount until 60 days before your trip.

Subscribe to the MouseSavers newsletter and/or check their site frequently and you will know almost as soon as they are released.

Thank you everyone for your advice. I just hope they have courtyard view rooms at the Wilderness Lodge. I have a spot saved I just hope I can apply my discount. I don't think I will know an exact amount until 60 days before my trip
