I know of people who have gone to Disney and never stepped foot in the parks. They stayed at GF and hit the spa and went for food.
oh my goodness, 2 funny.
that does sound relaxing though. but seriously, i would be to tempted. i could honestly never go to disney, stay on property(which we always stay) and not go to a park.

I've never done that, but I could! My wife and I seem to spend less time in the parks every time we go, we LOVE the resorts!

I say go for the woods view with an extra night. I've only ever stayed there once, we chose a woods view and loved it, IMO the woods view have a better view anyway.

Ditto. We are big WL fans. Been lucky enougt to stay there the past 10 years. Looking foward to going back this September.

We spend lots of time at the pool and just mulling around. We do go to parks, but we find that it's not all about the parks any more. It's the magic of being at Disney that does it for us.

I personally love overlooking the main pool. I am up ealier than the husband and enjoy sitting and watching the duck in the pool during the morning. Also, it's a great place to people watch during the afternoon and evening.

I also enjoy the pond side as well.

Still all comes down to personal preference.

I've stayed at the WL with a courtyard view, and the only thing that kept me from using my balcony was the bugs. It was nice, however to wake up in the morning and look out to Bay Lake and see the geyser. We rarely spend a lot of time in the room, though, so we would also take the extra night(s).

That being said, I stayed at the contemporary in a MK facing 9th floor tower room in April, and I'd pay that money again in a heartbeat. It's a truly unique and amazing experience to wake up to the Railroad's first train whistle of the morning. Now, the night before, it was grad night. We were in bed, and after midnight, we were shaken up when the fireworks went off. It shook the ENTIRE room, and was VERY loud...good show, though!

Did they forget the parks were there? I can't think of another reason why you wouldn't go to at least MK?

The Grand Floridian and maybe others often host business meetings and conventions. Not all the business people who attend those are 'Disney People'. (The horror, The horror)
To them it's just a place, another hotel, another meeting.

What are the best room ranges to request for a view of Bay Lake and to see the geyser?

Why are we even having this discussion...Take the extra night!!! WL is my absolute favorite resort on the grounds. I love the hotel, the Artist Point restaurant is stupendous, and the drive up to the hotel reminds me of a mountain pass resort. Love it.

You will love the WL! But just one word of caution to throw out to you. We stayed there this past April. Make sure you specify "woods View". We thought we had "woods view" but we got a standard view with our balcony over a loading dock with a view of the bus stop. The loading dock was busy as early as 5:30 a.m., so you could hear the trucks beeping to back in. Another thing was we faced the Whispering Canyon Cafe from our room, which stays pretty lively until 10:00 p.m. It in no way ruined our trip but we just made notes to selves that in the future we would like a different area! Have fun!!! (oh, and we were on the 6th floor)

Ditto think we had same room 3 years ago....:D...standard view sounded great to DH and the price was right but the noise to a light sleeper was too much...actually our view was mostly roof and bit of bus...

We love the view over the waterfall area of the courtyard....never bothered by pool noise....the waterfall seemed to cover that up. One night though they had some kind of pool party which was quite noisy....otherwise if you find you are a good sleeper....go for best rate and EXTRA NIGHT....never can be there long enough....:king:

Is the food court at WL a good one - like for a quick do it yourself breakfast?
Compared to the very good one at POR, it looked very small when I saw it after eating at Artist's Point one night.

Tks.

Thanks.
It may be a matter of semantics. I call anything with hot food that you can get like counter service, or grab-and-go, a food court.
Looks good.

Breakfast Grill
Adult Breakfast Platter - with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit $5.99
Bounty Platter - with scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes, pancakes and a biscuit $7.99
Bacon, Egg and Cheese Croissant Sandwich - $5.79
Pancakes - with bacon $4.99
Kids 9 and Under
Child Breakfast Platter - Scrambled eggs, bacon, potatoes and a biscuit $3.99
Child Pancakes - with bacon $3.99
