Wilderness Lodge DVC additions - Copper Creek Villas & Cabins

The clear cutting of the land is gut wrenching, but not unexpected. I'm sure Disney will landscape beautifully when done. Some of the trees around the property were trucked in from out of state. They certainly know the value of a tree ;)

It helps to keep reminding myself that the beautiful woods that surrounded hidden springs pool was in fact clear cut land that Disney then planted trees upon. They filled in eventually. It's the waiting for them to grow in that will be the hard part. Not sure I want to wait 15 years to see some good height and foliage on the trees.

I really wish they had done very selective tree removal and had the cabins (or whatever they are) prefabricated and craned into place like they did with the Treehouses. When the Treehouse construction was underway, damage to the existing landscape was basically zero (yes I know there was disturbance, but not much at all).

This was my hope as well. I had mentioned earlier that if done right, these could be a great addition. I was hoping they would only remove what was necessary and try to keep as many of those existing trees in place. It's going to take awhile for new growth (even if they plant 60-90 gallon trees) to fill in and bring back that dense ambiance. This might be a way for them to actually get "MK View" Money for those Woods View rooms in the Lodge.

80 Timberline Drive is the Wilderness Lodge Villas building, so Package #11 & #5 should be new restrooms & the pump building for the Hidden Springs pool. But I'm thinking that #7 & #8 are for linen & house keeping supplies/carts/etc. for use with the new cabins. Since there are 2, I wonder if 1 is for the North cabins and 1 for the South.

Anyone able to confirm?

Does anyone know if bike rentals are still available? We traditionally always rent bikes and ride to Fort Wilderness when we stay at WL.

It would be nice if Disney announced its construction plans as far in advance as they expect their guests to book. Our trip next week was booked 11 months ago; it would have been helpful to know we were booking a room in a construction zone.

Agreed. They would argue you could switch resorts, but people like me who are renting DVC lack that luxury. Not that Disney wants to promote DVC rentals.

dont show this pic to disney, the rates just went up i'm sure for an MK view despite the construction

its crazy to me that people still pay full price while the resorts are a mess
Disney's ability to destroy its best resorts is truly astounding.

why dont they come up with some new ideas and build a new resort or two ratherthan just trying to cram as many rooms as possible on existing properties

seems like it could be popular if they built some boutique style hotels in different places with different themes for those guests willing to pay a premium for something a bit more exclusive and maybe have them have their own division of transportation other than the normal busses, with all the other luxury experiences it seems there missing a possible market

They got the four seasons to build it at Golden Oaks.
