Wilderness Explorers @ DAK

Glad to see an update on this as we heard about it on our last trip when we were visiting the Kids Discovery Stations. My son loved participating in those every trip and I'm sure he will love this as well. It looks like it might take a little more work on his part to get all 30 badges!
This is the type of activity my family loves as we like to wander the parks, not just hit the rides. So, I'm really looking forward to this expanded experience. (Plus after 4-5 trips with Kids Discovery Activities, my son could walk up and just go through the activities automatically. He needs a new challenge.)

At the age of 33 I can honestly say I want all the badges.

I'm thinking that they're just stickers (the article mentions "sticker badges") to stick on the map, but it would be nice if they were either "sew-on patches" or actual "pin-on badges".

I also like the phrase "more than 30 badges will be available" when according to the map, there are 31. There's a part of me wondering whether it was a case of "we have 30 badges, but more than 30 sounds like a lot more than 30 - quick, someone find something else to add!".

I'm not particularly a huge fan of these "interactive adventure attractions", especially given the lack of attractions been added to WDW recently (does DAK seriously have less attractions now than it did in 2007/same amount as in 2005? Epcot has got to be similar as well with the removal of WoL), but I think I prefer this type of "interactive adventure attraction" (WE, SotMK) than Kim Possible/Agent P. Of course, freebies always help (SotMK cards, WE stickers), but it's also being able to continue it over multiple visits (decide you're going to MK/DAK, pick up your SotMK cards/WE Map and take the with you - or, if you forget, you can always pick up more), rather than "we must complete this Agent P adventure and then remember to return the phone and remember which adventure we've done so that we don't do that one again next time", and it will give you something to keep and remember your time doing it, rather than the only thing you have is a photograph that you've taken.

We did this last Wednesday with our 6 year old. She really liked finding everything, and they learn about the animals while doing it!

The WE @ DAK is a hunt for information. They pick up a book at the hub and then explore throughout the park looking for spots on the book's map where they can do things, learn things, and/or find things that pertain to the park and the animals. Along the Pangani Trail, for instance, there were several signs they needed to locate within the trail to earn their badge. At each station they learned about the animals, and would fill in the questions from the book to present to someone either at that station, or down the trail. The WE leaders would give them a sticker to put in their book to show they completed that part. The books are informative, as are the spots, and the CMs really were having fun with it. There were no bells and whistles, just a search for information where the kids learn something in a fun way. It takes only a little time away from everything else, so if you wander the trails or take the kids to Conservation Station this is a bonus!
