It isn't their park, its the Oriental Land Company's parks. They have a licensing deal to use the Disney name and properties.Interesting, why doesn't Disney have any control of their own park? Is it like that in the other international parks?
The Walt Disney Company essentially controls Euro Disney SCA, despite only owning a minority interest.
Hongkong Theme Parks International is a joint venture with the Government of Hong Kong, the slight majority owner. When building the park, the Government essentially that the decision making to Disney, and the result was the ridiculously small park that opened, since then the Government has become more wary of Disney and watches decisions more closely.
Shanghai Disney Resort's ownership will be the same 57-43 split that was originally in place in Hong Kong, with the majority stake being held by Shanghai Shendhi Group, a state owned company tied to Shanghai. Like everything on the Mainland, the government is very much involved.
