Why skip Epcot?

I can't believe how many families skip Epcot because they think the kids won't like it. Often, they end up having a great time (including the very little ones)-- and even if they don't, weren't most people taken to at least ONE place they didn't care for during a vacation as kids because the adults wanted to go?

I think it is foolish to skip Epcot, there are indeed many things to do and lots of educational stuff. If a family is going they should experience all the parks and not worry about, oh what are the kids going to do there. There is plenty, what about kidcot stations, and even if there wasn't, they also need to learn that they you sometimes have to do what others like to and that is the problem, most parents don't teach their kids the give and take. They just teach them "take" which usually comes back to bite them later on.

My first trip to WDW was when I was 2 in late 1982... I've NEVER skipped ANY of the parks. In fact, I quite loved EPCOT always!

People just don't know what they're missing... that's all.

I love EPCOT! It's a fun way to educate your kids. I went for the first time when I was 10 and I loved it then. It's been 6 years since I've been to WDW and we're finally going back in 8 days. And EPCOT is day #2.

How can you hate Epcot???? It has some of the best rides in WDW. They have all of the good food and you can visit every country in one day!!!

My brother in law and his family went to Epcot but didn't go in any buildings because his wife thought all they had in them were gift shops so all they did was walk around and leave. We even told them all about the rides before they left. Some people have no clue

I can't imagine putting down the money Disney costs without making some effort to find out what's there beforehand.

I think it's silly to skip Epcot. They have so many things for kids, such as Figment, and the Living Seas. I know LS is under rehab, but it's an attraction that little ones love. Also, I think it's a great way to show kids what other cultures are like without having to actually travel around the world. It might seem kinda boring to some kids, but I know some would love it. Also, with the Kid fun stops, the kids can get creative. I wouldn't skip Epcot if I went with little ones.

To me, that's just as silly as traveling a long way, sometimes accross oceans, and not enjoy everything Orlando has to offer, like Universal, Sea World and Busch Gardens. WHen I go, I wanna take it all!

Families skipping Epcot is so 90's.
Aka: "families that give in to EVERYTHING their child wants." is so 90's? I agree! I do think that some of the countries in World Showcase could stand to become a little more kid-friendly however, like the ones that only have shops and no actual attractions.

Epcot is one our our favorite parks and go every trip. When my daughter was younger she did the passport in the WS and loved it. I couldn't imagine a trip without going to Epcot.

That's because a trip without Epcot is like a week without eating...

...maybe I should try some food at other places around the resort?

If I had to skip one park on my trip to the World, it would not be EPCOT. Why pass up Mission: Space and Figment not to mention all the wonderful restaurants :slurp:

I always hated World Showcase as a kid. I mean, can you imagine going to EPCOT Center without knowing a word of English? Tell me you wouldn't find it boring too! At least we could have fun with the AA scenes in all the attractions. But those Circlevision movies... Geez! :hammer:

And in all fairness folks, maybe it's a cultural thing, but do fine restaurants and food really matter to a kid? I mean, the average Brazilian kid, and here I mean the 4 to 10 kids, will barely finish a burger and fries, what do they care about German or Morocco food? :)
