Why not remove Cinderella's Castle

With the removal of Tom Sawyer island, Splash Mountain, the Rivers of America, and the (beautiful) Lilly Belle, let's go all out and remove Cinderella's Castle. Think about it, it's taking up precious space where we could bout up a new coaster !!!
A coaster or ride would cost too much... Iger wants to put in meet and greets but start charging people for each meet... and if a kid dares to hug the character it an additional 10 dollar charge for contaminating the costume with cooties.

We will have to agree to disagree, my friend. Magic Kingdom isn't called a Rivers of America Park or even a Tom Sawyers Island park. It is know and described as one of the many Castle Parks connected with Disney. How many people have gone to WDW and never even knew that Tom Sawyer Island and Rivers of America even existed. I've met many, they didn't expect it, they didn't think it was anymore than just the surrounding landscaping. Personally, in spite of my fandom for almost 40 years, I went there on my first visit, with my kids and haven't set foot on it since 1983. Apparently, didn't leave much of a need to experience it again. The Rivers were and still are an important part of the glorious landscaping that most Disney Parks are known for and expected to continue.

Remember that is not to say that removal of the previous two isn't just Effing awful and sounds like it was thought of by someone that, like the song in Chicago says... "With one more brain what a half wit they'd be". Yes, they are iconic, but are not the thing that stands out and is seen and expected by everyone even if they have never been to the place. I'm sure they have records telling them about the near revolution stirred up by just making it look like a Cake. That is why I say it isn't really comparable except that they are all In Magic Kingdom. If there is no other reason to know it isn't going anywhere is if you just think about how many Disney Movies would have to have the beginning altered if that isn't the main Disney Identification.

If, however, I am wrong and they ever did try to remove it, that would be a sure sign that WDW is on it's way out, at least of Florida.
I suspect removing the river would be much more difficult than just filling it in with dirt. Given the near daily rain showers at MK the river provides a nice place for lots of water to run off to. Without it I would expect they would need to do some expensive work or end up with the same mosquito problem you get in many of the areas outside the parks.

I agree the castle has to go. It is "problematic" to the modern audience. People who don't live in castles might be offended. It's also cultural appropriation since it is largely a knock off of Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany so as someone with a small bit of German ancestry I am outraged that people would take my culture and make money off of it. Of course I am being sarcastic but unfortunately the company now seems more intent on making sure the "modern audience" is placated than anything else and if someone on TikTok screamed loud enough I'm sure they would rip the castle down to satisfy them. Plus the current bean counter mentality running through the parks would be happy to add more space for gift and churro stands. Have been to WDW well over a hundred times, worked there as a subcontractor when EPCOT was being built, fell in love with Disney of that era. Now I won't set foot in the place and the way they have thrown away their magic just saddens me.

Even someone as stupid as Iger would not touch the most photographed thing on earth.
one would hope but with this company now nothing and I mean nothing is safe. However it wouldn't hurt to restore it to its original color scheme how it should be, which is what they should have done anyway for the 50th but they wouldn't even do that. Why it has to be that beep beep pink color is beyond me, maybe I don't even want to know...but it was a rotten decision from the start.

Yes, as a kid I wanted to visit just to see it! Which was the whole point.

I also remember when stitch tp’d the castle. Fun little troublemaker he is.
I love the Hawaiian Roller Coaster song in the Stitch soundtrack. My Mom was a huge Elvis fan as well! We had the VP of RCA come speak to us in school about payola, elvis, and the 20 questions scandal. At my school, one of my friend's dad was also high up in the jeopardy tv show. He said that he didn't really care for Merv Griffin. I got to see his emmys one time, pretty cool!

He painted it cartoon colors...
It was basically that color years ago. However, I think it was done more to enhance the castle projection show this time. Probably the cheapest, popular added attraction they ever came up with. I don't see it ever going away or coming back as the matted gray. You know, what a non-plastic castle would be when made with real stone. Anyway, it's a fantasyland attraction. It can be any color we want to imagine.

I went twice that year, as an adult, because I thought it was wonderfully creative and whimsical. Who wants a theme park to not have whimsy? One might notice that after those traditionalist guests complained so loudly about the castle cake, the wand at EPCOT and the location of the Hat in DHS they don't do that stuff anymore. Why work ones butt off just to have people not like their efforts to that degree and expense that I can't even wrap my brain around. They are better off just not doing anything and that is exactly what the decided to do... nothing!

I have a poster of it that's framed on my wall from the 25th..all of the hidden mickeys are oh so very cool in it! I also have a pennant that I got at a flea market for about $5. It's framed also, really cool it has all of the original characters in it. Not sure when it's from...one of my favorite treasures I have! 🐶

First, it's LIBERTY BELLE, not Lilly Belle so you got that wrong. Do I agree with them removing it and the island? No. Is the island popular? No but Cars DOES NOT fit the area. It has nothing to do with Colonial or Frontier America. That area is FRONTIERland and Cars is not set in the frontier or colonial eras. As far as the castle, I am assuming that you are joking about that. People take Walt's saying "Disneyland will never be complete..." as changing everything that is deemed outdated. The castles are the symbols of Disney. They are icons. Disney owns how many acres in florida that can be used to build? They are getting rid of so much at Disney Springs, why not build something there? That would be a perfect spot for a Cars area. Look at DCA and what they did with that small area.

Having endured DCA's cars land, I hope it never gets dumped anywhere at Disneyworld. The rides they had their were notorious for breaking down and that isn't just the actual Radiator Racers it was every ride they tried there except Mater's Junkyard... Even when some of the rides were supposedly working not all the cars they would stick guests in actually functioned.... it was worse than the Buzz Light Year ride at MK in terms of poor upkeep, and this was at the park that was normally the best maintained when it comes to rides... At DisneyWorld I would expect it to be far worse.
