EPCOT Why no New Updates to EPCOT?

We can only hope that the descent animation will be updated since that is something they could have already been working on, but that might even be asking for too much.
Why bother? They are probably going to take out the screens anyway. The best thing they can realistically do to improve the ride is edit out the stupider parts of the narration and turn the paper boy around and that probably is asking for too much.

LOL!!! Imagination feels like it is being purposely ignored....maybe until no one can remember what was great about it at one time.....sort of like they did with Tom Sawyer's Island over the years...
The Fountain issue is unrelated to Imagination in particular but EPCOT in general... And has become a symbol of the failed rebirth of EPCOT project... At this point, they should realize that portion (among others) is a dismal failure and just do whatever it takes to fix it...Make it the beautiful, kinetic heart of the area.... instead of an odd planter with completely uninspired plantings and broken lighting effects...The park deserves better....and so do the guests.
Communicore Hall tells everything I need to know regarding this transformation. sure they are using the trappings and nomenclature of EPCOT Center but they don't know or care why people liked it so much. When you think about it, The jump from EPCOT Center in 1982 to Epcot 94 wasn't that big a jump. Yes the signage was more in your face and tacky as things were in the 90s but they still aspired to entertain, inform and inspire. The jump from Epcot 94 to EPCOT today is much wider since yes they brought back the old logos and aesthetics but they clearly are not aiming to inform or inspire anymore and what they consider entertaining would be no less entertaining if it was at the Magic Kingdom.

I agree, this is Disney's Mode of Operation! This is how they orchestrated the mu*der of Muppets 3D.

Its only a matter of time for Imagination. Some day we will be saying RIP Figment...
It's how a lot of classic attractions were murdered. Even the ones that are supposedly "sacred" are not immune to being messed with. (Pirates, Mansion etc.) The only reason we don't have Disney characters in Small World is because TDO is too cheap to pay for them.

To me that happened 6 years ago.
For me it's way further back. Mid 90s when Horizons lost its sponsor and went seasonal (culminating in eventual closure) and World of Motion closing. Followed by Imagination. I knew the writing was on the wall even at that point, and I was still a young child at the time. I cringe just thinking about what they wanted to do to Spaceship Earth (but thankfully couldn't due to apparent structural issues)... Things just kept getting worse and worse from there. Malestrom and Wonders of Life were the last good additions to the park that mostly honored the original intent IMO. And maybe a handful of the Innoventions exhibits (though not as many hits as one would hope).

Project Geminii had some good ideas...Time Racers was just not one of them... It was still a grand reimagining... Adding a rainforest coaster to The Land would have been great....A Mini Autopia added to the World Of Motion would also have been a great addition... Rwetaining the symmetry of the park, adding things VS replacement.... There were some good ideas...

I'd argue that plopping coasters and autopias (it was for Test Track btw, World of Motion was already replaced by it in these plans) in front of these pavilions were also concerning ideas that would make things look like a hot mess. The original transportation pavilion had some sort of Test Track looking ride that was a part of it, but just plopping it in front of the existing one they already built wouldn't look good. It already looks awkward enough with the TT loop around it. It just wasn't built to work with that. As for the Rainforest coaster and hedge maze, well it not only would likely permanently eat up two of the only remaining expansion pads that full pavilions could have gone in (hypothetically imagining a better reality where this may have occurred), but I again think it would have ruined the facade of the Land pavilion itself.

There were much better coaster concepts originally planned for the park that they could and should have gone with in World Showcase. Matterhorn and/or Mt Fuji being prime examples that were even in some of the mostly "final" models of the park. Eddie Sotto recently posted one really cool Switzerland concept that he pitched in I believe the 90s when they were considering reviving it.

We also somehow dodged a bullet with even worse plans for Living Seas. Say what you will about Nemo (and i'll be right there griping alongside everyone else), Little Mermaid invading it would have been 10x worse.

It's hard to say what the Communicore renovations would have been like, but it's clear that it would have reduced the amount of interior space drastically much like what they just did to it. Much earlier in the timeline though. I don't know why Disney has spent so many decades hating those original buildings and wanting rid of them, only to replace them with either something much more hideous, or nothing at all.

My point was the basic ideas in some of the planning was not bad...implementation is another thing throughout the project... But you can also argue that aside from Time Racers, the ideas of adding an Autopia and a few other attractions around the other pavilions is a good idea to start... A fully designed Autopia on the grounds of Test Track is not a horrible idea... Beautiful sets and landscapint....and perhaps under the outdoor loop of Test Track so you get a flyover view would be great... and then maybe that would replace the need to keep the Speedway at the MK...
Realistically the expansion pads between The Seas, The Land and Imagination will never be used... and again if designed and placed properly, having a coaster and a maze as part of the Land offerings is not a terrible idea....Like adding some smaller attractions around a completely re-imagined Imagination pavilion.... There are always complaints that there is nothing for the youngest guests to do in EPCOT... I don't have kids and don't care...not my battle, but there are ways they could integrate some smaller attractions with the existing pavilions...
