I really like the hat. It's adorable and giant. What's not to like?!

But I really don't like it being where it is. Messes up what was the best part of MGM. I would like to see it relocated.

I like the hat itself, I think it should be used for a future parks icon. But after you watch this, you will understand why I dislike it.

You learn how much work and detail went into building the beautiful Chinese Theater and The Great Movie Ride, and now most guests are un aware they are even there!

Great vid. It's not just the point of the hat. It has to do with where it was placed. The other three parks have their icons as wonderful backdrops for photos. The Earful Tower is not in a direct line of sight to go down HB for a photo-op. It is an icon because that is what you would find at a real studio with its studio name on there. The Chinese Theatre is a perfect backdrop for HB as it represents what Hollywood should be/never was. If it didn't obstruct the Theatre, odds are good most people would not complain about the BAH. Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Have a Magical Day!!

I bet if they moved it, then this would be a conversation about it being moved to the wrong place.

Well, if it were a hardhat, then it could be moved in front of Splash Mountain. What better icon to illustrate the level of guest protection from falling mountain debris? o_O

The giant hardhat could help distract guests from the attraction's lack of maintenance.

Of course, for the hardhats to be used by guests while riding the attraction, Disney would equip those hardhats with RFID technology that would actually cost more than simply maintaining a functioning level of maintenance.

I am definitely not a big fan of the hat...at least where it is.

The one thing that made me laugh on the video is in the first minute the guy says "People have come here by planes, trains , automobiles and monorails"....umm, last I checked there was not a monorail to MGM. An argument could be made for no airport either but the monorail thing just made me chuckle and I got this vision in my head of some guy arguing with a CM at the monorail station in EPCOT that he wanted to get on the MGM Monorail.

Why no love for the hat in HS? At least you get a cool breeze unerneath. So do you love it, hate it, or just have a burning sense of indifference?
I guess if I weren't so aggravated at fp+, and upkeep, and the entirety of epcot, I might have some energy left to dislike the hat. It is just so minor compared to other things, I just don't care.

I LOVE the Chinese Theater. With that said, though, I'd prefer that an "icon" not be a replica of something else, but rather a Disney original. Yes, there are other spheres, castles and trees in the world, but although they may be inspired by their real life counterparts, they're still original creations by and for Disney.

I just wish that the Studios icon was more related to the idea of a, well, studio. Even if it's as cliche as something related to cameras, film reels, etc., at least it would be more relevant than a hat. I do understand the significance of THAT particular hat as it relates to film, but it still seems a bit 'removed' from the idea of a studio (IMO).

I noticed the Monorail comment as well, I guess they just reverence that it was used in part of the trip, maybe, could be, probably not. Anyway, it was an obvious mis-statement depending on their intention, which they didn't explain at all.

And I give you the Earful tower. An absolute original to the actual Disney Studio's. What more could anyone ask for.
