Why no love for the hat in HS? At least you get a cool breeze unerneath. So do you love it, hate it, or just have a burning sense of indifference?

I have always thought that it adds a somewhat tacky element to a very ornate and well themed area. The grandeur of the street is diminished by the Hat. I think that the Hat is a very nice structure, but it is terribly misplaced within the park.

I agree with all of this. The hat is neat, but doesn't belong there. I'd much rather have a direct view of the theater.

I like the hat itself, I just don't love the location as it fights against the old Hollywood theming. There used to be a great view down Hollywood Blvd that included the unobstructed theater.

That being said, I would love for it to be moved to the middle of the animation courtyard as I still think the hat looks cool and has a great Pin Traders underneath (although, moving it there could cause a problem for stroller parking for Disney Jr. Live on Stage).

As with most things in life, personal taste is subjective. In this case, I prefer grandeur over whimsy.

It has not always been there. I believe it has been there only since 2001.

I'm not a fan of it because I don't believe it fits the theme of HS. HS is supposed to be about the grandeur and intricacies of movie-making. It is supposed to transport you to Hollywood and let you feel what it's like to be a star or be involved in the golden era of Hollywood. I feel like the entire park is somewhat discombobulated though, but, as Pooh would say, "that's an entirely different thread for an entirely different day."

Either way, the reason I don't like the hat is that it does not in any way, IMO, represent the concept of HS.

YES YES AND UM LET ME THINK YES!! Stamboat Willie not too big as to block the view would be perfect and a perfect fit for the theme of the park as always genius!

Why do I hate the hat? It's a big clunky eyesore...that is in the wrong place.
It absolutely destroys the sensational themeing and view from that awesomely themed front gate of the Studios.

I mean really really destroys it. It used to be my favorite street in the World...and the hat is ridiculous. Anywhere else in the park? I wouldn't have cared. But really...what is it good for? I place to sell more of the same stuff you can buy just a few feet away?

I don't hate the hat, but like others have mentioned, I wish it were located elsewhere in the park without blocking out the Chinese Theatre. There is the possibility that the Theatre will always have to be covered with something, keeping it from being DHS's "Cinderella Castle" (issues with the owners of the real Theatre in Hollywood?). Then there are rumors that those rumors are completely false, and Disney decided to block out the Theatre just 'cause. But for whatever reason, Disney feels the Theatre is not appropriate to be the main focal point as you enter the park gates & walk down Hollywood Blvd. Me personally, I enjoyed having the Theatre as the main focal point at the center of the park (especially seeing it lit up at night with the spotlight beams shining behind it). It was a beautiful, symbolic structure to represent the park. Now, thanks to that hat, there are only a few select locations to get a legit pic/view of the Theatre, and that's what saddens me along with many others.

I don't like Hollywood studios at all, personally or its theming...I don't mind the hat. :)

The best part of DHS is the front gate :)

I love HS spending 2 or 3 days ther this trip my boys can ride Star Tours til they drop different ride every time and I like the shows. ToT is my favorite ride best preride themeing on property would ride it just for that. I just don't like the hat blocking the view. Stamboat Willie would be so much better. Don't get rid of the hat just move it

Move the hat somewhere else and my adoration would be complete. Keep it where it is as a thematic mess for selling pins and a background for the latest concert Disney throws against a wall to see what sticks and I'll continue to be irritated by its presence.
