Thats not the point. I said that 8.2 isn't a blockbuster. You argued that. I clearly proved that isn't. It doesn't matter when the games come out. Especially when the PS2 has only been out for roughly 5 years and there are no less than 200 higher rated games than KH. It simply isn't a blockbuster game. As I said previously in this game, it has no innovation.

Ratings /= Profit.

Yeah, usually, I liked the story in KH, but like you said the gameplay had been done before(And better at that) but people still flocked to it.

I'm not disagreeing with you, I'm just not agreeing with you 100%.

It did sell well, I agree with that. However, it still isn't a great game. Like I said, there are many much more deserving properties than Kingdom Hearts.

As for most people having no idea what it is, i'd say that probably have no idea what the story line is but they do know what it is.

Most people who aren't huge disney fans most likely will NOT know what the game is, why market something that 80% (im estimating here) of the WDW going crowd won't even know.

First, the "moving slowly with new franchises" simply isn't true. But equating a video game with a hit movie simply is false. They don't equate. Especially when the game isn't a blockbuster on the level of Half Life 2 or GTA. KH was decent, but it did not innovate in any way.

BTW, can you stop with the XD thing? Its really annoying.[/quote]

WROOONNGGG!!! Kingdom Hearts was one of the best selling games for the PS2. It sold more here then it did in Japan actually. I believe you need to research your facts more before you get so rude and act like you know everything. Look up the sales for Kingdom Hearts.

Kingdom Hearts sold 4 million copies worldwide.

GTA: San Andreas sold 5.2 million copies in North America in just 2004 (and not including PC sales).
Source: http://videogames.aol.com/game_news?articleID=275630&gameID=7315

Of course it sold more in North America than Japan. Relating one directly to the other simply isn't fair. Japan's population is 127,417,244 (source: http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/rankorder/2119rank.html) and the U.S and Canada add up to 328,539,175 (same source).

I believe that you have to take your own advice. The fact is, Kingdom Hearts isn't a "breakthrough" franchise. Think about it. Most people have heard of Grand Theft Auto, Doom, Half Life, Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil, Tomb Raider. The same isn't true for Kingdom Hearts. And since Disney marketing has already been behind the game, the same will remain to be true.

Look at it this way:

80% of people at WDW doesn't even seem to know anything about WDW in the first place... that's why 25% of the people will be wondering where all the Shrek stuff is. So why market the Haunted Mansion when 80% of them can't even remember anything about the ride once they step foot off of it?

I'm rather in disagreement that nothing will sell. Maybe not put a huge marketing campaign, but put some small items to test the waters at least. And Japan is a good place to start, especially if the anime store is still there.

Like I said, the run of Halloweentown KH shirts and the 2 series of action figures seemed to do pretty decently... WDW gets an international audience. KH is at least a platinum seller here and in Japan, if not moreso. That's a lot of potential customers there... I'm sure enough people would be up for buying a WDW shirt for Japan if it had Sora, Donald, and Goofy on it...

The ratings that it got really doesn't mean much in the end. It might not be perfect (and, to tell you the truth, most took points off purely for the camera controls), but it's enough to get a pretty good following of obsessive fans.

If there wasn't enough of a following, they wouldn't have made those characters after the fact -- it's usually only when they make the characters before the fact that they might make some mistake (or when they try to push a character/franchise too hard, like the Muppets).

Not a thing. The movies do awful.

The Movies do awfull because there awfull movies, not because there based on Video Games.

Do you really think if a amazing Film was made about a Video Game people would go, oh i'm not going to see that, it's been adapted from a Video Game.

The Halo Film being made looks hopeful for the first real good game to film conversion, Peter Jackson Is producing it.

Yes, because King Kong looks so wonderful?

But you're right in saying the movies are more or less bad movies. However, thats something inherent to the medium. Video games promise a certain degree of user control on the story. Those playing the video games aren't going to like it when they have no control over their favorite game.

LOTR's, Heavenly Creatures, Braindead, Bad Taste.

Jackson’s more than proved him self a great Director, and your judging a film before it even comes out, how about you wait and see.

Thank you. I'm glad someone understands. Once upon a time, you could've said the same thing about comic book movies until Superman and Batman came out and set the standered and NOW we've got X-Men, Spider-Man, Sin City ect. Granted, we still get a good deal of bad comic book movies (coughHulkcough) but out of them, we still get good movies like Spider-Man. Video Games could do the same thing if you actually got someone who can make them into decent movies.
