Does anyone know why there is no Club 33 in Magic Kingdom in WDW?There's one in Tokyo Disneyland. Epcot has plenty of VIP lounges all over Future World . But why isn't there the infamous, secret Club 33 in Florida?

Could it be that they didn't include because when the MK was built there wasn't a large amount of local patrons who would/could support a Club 33?

The reason: No Walt.

In my opinion, Club 33 was for Walt to entertain the best of the best and Walt was not around during the construction of MK at WDW.
Plus Roy was not the visionary he was the businessman and Roy was the head man for building MK at WDW.

I never heard of there being one in Tokyo but, if the OP is correct, wouldn't that spoil your theory?

Mr.Pickles will throw this out for the unwashed masses to ponder...what if there IS a Club 33 in the Magic Kingdom, but it is just that, hidden from the general public. Mr.Pickles may have said too much.....

Well in Tokyo Disneyland's case, it's for the Oriental Land Company's executives to impress their potential buisness partners. Theirs is above Main Steet, on the left side from the entrance in either the first or second block.

When Disneyland was built, there was of course no alcohol in the park, no other site on property to entertain the executives that Walt needed for sponsorship.

At WDW as darthjohnny mentioned, you have numerous private lounges [Edit - at Epcot], you also have resources at the various hotels, MGM and AK for entertaining. So in effect, WDW has numerous Club 33's. With that, there is no need to have it in the MK.

I heard it was much more expensive than that.

There is probably a 33 in Tokyo, and other parks outside the US because those parks are not actually owned by Disney - just more or less franchised - and the owners wanted such a club to entertain the investors - just like Walt did at DL. I would assume it was simply not needed at WDW - although I would love it!

It is.
Last number I heard was (for individuals) $7500 initiation fee and $3000 yearly dues. That gets you one card and the membership is non-transferable.

Steep...but man, they got a great creme brule the size of a plate! :slurp:

*clears throat*

There is one in Tokyo. But when Tokyo was built there was no Roy Disney involved in the process. Roy saw no reason for there to be a Club 33 since there was no Walt and not as much tendency to want to entertain the wealthy at MK. If the Disney Company wanted to entertain the wealthy they would do where the wealthy reside: California. In 1971, there was not much to Florida at all when compared to California. The local population was hugely different from So Cal's population.
Bottom line: At the time of construction the market for a swanky, secret club was not there.
Tokyo was 11 years after MK and was largely influenced the wealthy Oriental Land Company execs.
