Because Kingdom Hearts is the property of SquareEnix, not Disney. It would be up to SquareEnix if a ride or attraction would be viable, which I doubt it would be. And after the failure of their only movie, Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within, I doubt they have any plans besides video games.

Not only that, but like making videogames into movies (Double Dragon, Mortal Kombat, Super Mario Brothers, Resident Evil), it just doesn't work out as well as you'd think. I don't think I could see a Kingdom Hearts attraction unless it were a huge videogame setup.

BTW, I'm new here. Hi!

Actually, they're releasing a CG movie for DVD and UMD called Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children.

As I already pointed out, Disney owns the rights to Kingdom Hearts. While I hope they do not build an attraction based on it, they do own the rights to it.

The interesting thing about Kingdom Hearts is that it fuses classic Disney with popular modern gaming. KH2 will have a Steamboat Willie level, as well as interaction with Pirates of the Caribbean characters (Will Turner, Jack Sparrow, Captain Barbossa).and a TON of celebrity voice talent (I think all of the POTC actors voice their own characters in game, for instance).

If you went out and asked 20 people on the street what Kingdom Hearts was, I bet 19 of them wouldn't have a clue what you're talking about.

I agree, in fact I was on the forums at work and no one in the office knew what it was except me. The only reason I know is because my brother plays the game, but isn't a big fan.

I think the idea of an attraction really isn't a good idea. It's kinda corny in fact. I don't mean to base the idea, but I don't even know what type of direction they could take it.

i'm not expecting a kingdom hearts game

but i do love the game and can't wait for #2 to come out

one thing thats important is that we don't know how relavant it will be in 10 years, or even in 5, we've all seen how quickly video game tecnology changes, and i'm sure there are a thousand great games that have now been long forgotten or become obsolete.

you have to bear in mind that disneyworld/land is supposed to be all-age-encompassing. People in America over age 30 (with the obvious exceptions) do not play a lot of videogames, period. Grandparents certainly do not. The market niche that has heard of and played through kingdom hearts is too small to create a successful attraction based on the game.

Before the proverbial can of worms is opened, let us first ask a few questions. Have I heard of Kingdom Hearts? Yes. Have I played Kingdom Hearts? No. Do I think it's a "bad" game or anything silly like that? Of course not. I've heard it's quite good from close friends with trusted tastes in such things. It's just too obscure to make into a good theme park attraction (the percentage of the population that has heard of the characters from the final fantasy games is even smaller, but I'm happily a member of that percentage).

A successful theme park attraction is all about appealing to the most amount of people, unless the intention is to gear the attraction towards a specific age group, such as pooh's playground...and even then it's only slightly tweaked towards that age group, because disney theme parks are all about everyone in a family being able to spend time together.

Plus, the rights are all tied up.

By the same token, while I wish to god disney'd create an Army of Darkness ride, it ain't gonna happen. :D

I would have to say one of those folks would be me. I had no idea, but I just looked @ the website and HOW COOL! I'm not a video game player, but I might like to be to play Kingdom Hearts. I watched the trailer and now I know. I would love to play! :sohappy:

umm, lets see here ask 100 random people on the street maybe 2 will know what your talking about, so when lots of people know about and they don't have to tell people what this whole thing is about then maybe, until then there are characters that are alot better known and advertising pooh's or mickey's or nemo or buzz lightyears new ride makes a lot more sense.

Yes, I know. I have been looking forward to it for over 5 years now. But, at the same time, it is a sequel base off quite possibly their most popular Final Fantasy game (there are even talks to redo the game itself for Playstation 3, the intro has already shown up at the last E3.). Most fanboys have been begging SquareEnix for either a sequel game or movie for quite some time now. Unfortunatly, KH has nowhere near as much popularity as the Final Fantasy franchise does, so I don't see any rides/attractions in the near... or distant future.
