Why isn't Pete a Character?

I am hoping that Pete is making a re-appearence due to the Kingdom Hearts II game. My daughter and I have played it alot, and she loves the Pete character. I hope that when we go back we will be able to find him for her.

The body shape isn't a problem, as a close friend to some of these characters I know that disney has lots of ways of making characters different shapes. Also many Disney willians appear in the parks but they have been cut down in the recent years do to some characters getting carried away with there guest interactions. Like the meet and greet storm troopers were very recently removed from mgm for this exact reason.:mad:

Okay kids, here's the info for ya:
Unfortunately, Pete isn't out for Character Meet and Greets. But, as for villains, there is Captain Hook and Mr. Smee (Pirates at MK), Gideon and Faulfellow (In Epcot), and sometimes Prince John can be found in Adventureland at the Magic Kingdom. If you're REALLY lucky, you can still find Stromboli in Toowntown near the teardrop area (which is right when you get off the train, to the right). I have seen pictures of him being out. Jafar doesn't really come out anymore. They really should have more villains out!

This is a question I didn't know I had until I saw it...YEAH Where is Pete?! Or better yet...Why no Pete? The fact that he is not around because he is a villain is just made up (an frankly not very thought through) speculation. There are always villains walking around all of the parks. I have yet to make a trip to WDW without multiple Queen of Hearts sightings as well as the ones mentioned already in the thread before me. If you want to talk about scary, Shan - Yu from Mulan even give me the willies when he walks by. The shape would have nothing to do with it either. I have seen wilder proportioned walk-arounds than Pete. This has had to come up with the cotuming dept. before and I wouldn't mind hearing an official explanation....but since that most likely will not happen, lets continue with the wild speculation until something sounds right.
My best guess would be a perceived popularity issue. Which I would have to say is a little off the mark. Every generation can relate to a story with Pete in it from very old (Steamboat Willie or even earlier the Alice Comedies) to fairly new (for instance my 2 year old nephew & 4 year old neice know him from the 3 Musketeers cartoon DVD.) I hope someone can find a picture of him from when he was/might have been in the parks, but the real crime is not having him there now. Here's hoping for a Halloween surprise when I go to Trick or Treat next month!

PS If not a meet & Greet. Then at least a parade villian as some of the others (like Jafar) have been regulated to.

Disney has over 3,000 different character costumes... most of which are too random to be recognized.

There are both petes. Peg Leg/Goof Troop Pete, and Pete's Dragon Pete.

Rob, I bet you and I could name them all. So are some of these Gurgi, Panchito, The Rocketeer, Nolka and Webbigail??
So he is in Special Events. I've seen a picture of Pete as Peg Leg Pete and he actually looked pretty cool.

No kidding!!! Queen of Hearts gets shafted all the time!!! Sometimes Stromboli is at MNSSHP, but I haven't seen him there for a year or two.

Do you think if they came out with a Pete, would they do peg-leg pete from the old cartoons, or the more recent Goof Troop? Or would they have two versions?

If you are talking about rare charaters, add BEN (the robot) from Treasure planet. He came and went in a flash. There was even a motorized sail.

Peg Leg Pete would be a fun Meet n Greet on Main Street USA or over in Toontown, I think.
