I keep looking online and I've heard people are having problems getting rooms...

They are available on Orbitz, but I'm afraid to book through them...

Anyone know why?

Orbitz has their own block of room which they purchase from Disney. That is why they may still have rooms & Disney does not. Disney has already been paid for those rooms by Orbitz, so to them it makes no difference whether Orbitz sells them or they stay empty. The only difference in booking with Orbitz or Expedia for that matter is they do not have access to all the various packages. Once booked with them you cannot for example add the dining plan. That sometimes can be a drawback.

I'm beginning to think CRO is getting a bit out of hand... first you call them and they know everything including my blood type from my phone number... then they try to sell you what you don't want - I just wonder how people who call them cold for the first time ever get through it. Maybe it IS time for a travel agent...

When you use Orbitz, what kind of documentation do you get and can you make ADR's etc. with it?

Please don't take it out on the cast memebers at DRC. I worked there for 9 1/2 years. They work on an incentive program. If they fail to say something that they are suppose to, whether it's not saying good-bye properly or leaving out something Disney want pushed, their call is "zeroed" out. They then take away their incentive pay for that month, no matter how much revenue they might have sold. So bear with them, they have to say these things as frustrating as it is to you and to them.

I've even heard people getting upgraded to deluxes while they were at the values. Don't now exact circumstances but as a DVC member it make me say something I have been saying alot lately..... HMM.

Sometimes an upgrade can be really simple. Example: You are staying at All Star Movies...your room floods...all the resorts are sold out and the only room left on property is a room at the Beach Club. There you go..it's yours!!

OK--I'm dying of curiosity--what resorts need help?

OKW and SSR may not need help as such, but upgrading people to them is a GREAT way to start the wheels into thinking about DVC membership. It's a clever and (probably) effective sales tool.

Everytime I call they are always pushing the Coronado, which I can't stand. Thanks for the empowering information merf.

We had a hard time booking the Poly for this trip when we made the reservations back in June. We went through a Disney travel agent (not KK), but similiar. She got us our Garden Concierge room for 09/08-09/16. When we added on an extra day, the only rooms available were Lagoon Concierge or Princess Suite (Yikes!). We chose the lesser of 2 evils price-wise with the lagoon concierge. We have never stayed in a room like that so it should be nice for one night, but a pain to have to literally move rooms. They told us that if we talked to a CM at the check in desk when we arrive and tell them our story, they might be able to move things around and help us stay where we are. We will see!

This is one of the many reasons why I use KK to book my WDW trips. They know how to navigate the system and bend over backwards to fulfill my requests.
