Why is Doc McStuffins at HS 7 feet tall?

So...in order to be true to your vision of what Disney should do with "their" characters, Mickey Mouse should be a face character in order to offer a better experience.

No, I said earlier that Mickey is an anthropomorphic mouse, and I do not think Disney should look for a real talking mouse. I just said that the Disney Jr. Cast at Hollywood studios look cheap, frightened my girls, and I had to answer why they were so 'big'. Why such a defense to such a hideous costume? I am suggesting that 3 costumes replaced with real people would be better. Isn't that the vision of Disney, to Plus it?

That's your opinion. Lots of others said they didn't bother them.

Winnie the Pooh and gang scared the crap outta our kiddo. I mean it's an oversized teddy bear.

I just think the costumes perfectly fit the characters they are suppose to represent.

You have already been called out for exaggerating, so I wonder if your girls were really that frightened by them and you just want to become the next Doc McStuffins face character.

Of course it was an exaggeration. The point was they are grossly larger than the characters they represent. And yes, they were reserved, is that a better choice of words? I didn't know I was going to be fact-checked for this claim. You like them, fine, you can see them just the same at the local Chuck-E-Cheese. I guess I just cannot believe that people are arguing with me that replacing a few children's characters with humans that can talk and interact would be a better experience.

As is Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Seven Dwarves, Stitch, Lilo, all of the Pooh group and dozens of other characters at WDW.

If Snow White or Cinderella had of been drawn with balloon heads three times the size of a normal head, then more than likely they would not be face characters in the parks.

Your whole argument seems to revolve around the size of their heads and they perfectly represent what the Disney Animators have drawn.

Then you'd have the problem of grown men and women trying to pass as little kids, and they would likely be unrecognizable as the characters they're meant to portray other than the clothes they wear, because the actual characters in the cartoons have GIANT-sized heads and do not resemble real humans in the slightest.

Then there's also the issue of the very limited supply of unusually-tiny adults (who can also pass as one of the characters specific to the show) that Disney would have to staff continually during all park hours.

Imagine Disney trying to cast the Seven Dwarfs as face characters... that's essentially the same task you're asking Disney to accomplish with Disney Junior.

I don't see why you find it so unbelievable that someone would take this viewpoint.

That is not what I said, that is not the argument. There are several live characters represented by adults that work perfectly. I never said children should play these roles, I never said tiny people should play these roles. I never said Mickey or the Dwarfs should be played by real people. I just suggested it would be a better experience to have humans play the roles of a few Disney Jr. characters at Hollywood Studios that children recognize.

It works with Ariel, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, Anna, Elsa at the Magic Kingdom, who are cartoon characters that are represented much better in person than a costume, and do not look exactly like the cartoon.

The obsession of injecting all sorts of unreasonable objections just to make a point that is well beyond what my point was, is useless.

Ok, I get it, the people on this forum who complain about chipped paint, and light bulbs out, are perfectly fine with this mall production meet and greet.

In your opinion, it is a ""Mall production".

To everyone else it is Disney Magic and fits perfectly.

You seem to be cherry picking people's replies to fit your agenda.

Is there some reason that every post you make on this topic must be condescending and predicated on the idea that no one of any intelligence could ever possibly disagree with your opinion on this issue? I happen to think you're dead wrong. And that's okay. This is not a nuclear arms negotiation, this is an Internet message board thread about Disney characters.

I personally think that given what the characters look like in the cartoons, having them be face characters would look utterly ridiculous. I personally think that the costumes currently in use are very true to what the characters actually look like, and that they are far preferable to trying to do them as face characters. And I personally think that most children are fine with the characters as they are, and that more questions would be raised about how different they looked if they were face characters.

You disagree, and that's fine. But I'm not an idiot for holding a different opinion.

Using that logic, they should replace Anna and Elsa with a costume. Would you be ok if they were represented like Doc is?

Btw, I never called anybody an idiot, I posted a message that I did not like the way 3 characters were represented and could be replaced. Then, I think just for the sake of arguing, the assumptions poured in assuming I wanted children to play the role, and to replace Mickey with a real mouse. While this has been entertaining, I see that I am probably the only one who doesn't like seeing the 3 Disney characters at HS in the same costumes I can get.

Or why does Mickey talk to you at MK, but he doesn't talk to you at any of the other parks or why does Pluto walk around on only two legs when on TV he walks around on all four? It's easy to start asking questions and taking this too far.

IMO, these specific three characters are portrayed just fine; just a difference of opinion. :)

I think the Disney Jr meet and greet characters are well done - they have the appearance of the on-scren versions.

Some kids will be afraid of them, in the same way that some kids are scared of face characters.

I agree that the Disney Jr. characters are a little off putting. It is difficult to represent what is essentially a child (Doc Mcstuffins, Sofia, etc.) in a real life setting. I feel like some characters just don't translate as well. But you can't make them "human" if they're children.

You'd think that Disney would listen to the Consumer.....But, Noooooooooooo....

It's all about the age of the characters. The problem with these examples is that these characters are all supposed to be in their late-teens. So having a 20-something person portray a 17-19 year old isn't that much of a stretch. In fact, it happens on tv all the time. But having a 20-something portray a 6/7/8 year old just isn't done. It would be (to me) borderline creepy.
