Why is 7DMT ride so popular?

I haven't had a chance to ride it yet.. (will in less than 2 months) it was still under construction the last times we were there.. but I would imagine that it is because it is new. Same reason BoG is as busy as it is.

Ride capacity probably is a factor as well (the reason Peter Pan always has such a wait)..

My take on it is that it's due to it being new still, while short like you said the ride really is fun, the queue is cool, and it's a "trill" type attraction kids can ride. I think the fact that not many passengers fit in each train likely makes the line longer. Kind of like Peter Pan (a few to a flying ship/boards slow).

We love it! I adored SWSA so this takes me back to that a bit, especially the cottage scene.

For me, I think it's one of the most magical rides in the park. Not only do you get the thrill of a few drops (even if they are small in comparison to bigger coasters), but you get all the enchantment of a dark ride. When you go up the lift hill and "Heigh Ho" starts playing and the whole train claps along...I get chills every time.

Besides that its still a ride most guests havent experienced yet because of its newness, the 7 dwarfs are still beloved characters that draw kids. The hype it received about the new innovative rocking ride cars helped. They made guests want to experience something different that hasnt been done before. The draw of a colorful interactive queue thats very kid friendly. And its a coaster thats more guest friendly... isnt as hard to ride as BTMRR or SM.

Even though it has been there for almost a year. Most people either have never been to WDW or only go every few years so to them its still something new they need to try. Its only us crazy people that go a couple of times a year that view it as no longer new and wonder why the line is so long.

We feel the same about BoG. We have been there twice and other than the theming we don't understand the demand. There are other places in MK with better food and way less busy.

It is new for sure and I think that is the biggest reason however I also think that, even though it is too short, it is an example of what Disney is capable of. We rode it as a family for the first time recently and I really took note of all of the little details. The theming is very cool and they really left nothing out. Tack another 30 seconds on that ride and it would have been perfect. In a sense I put it in the same catagory as ToT (which, by the way, gets my vote for best ride and theme). They are examples where the Imagineers were allowed to pour their heart and soul into a project. I don't know how it worked out from a budgetary sense but thematically they are near perfect.

Tot is my favorite ride and I do it half dozen times when I go to Disney..... IMHO 7DMT is not even lose to the same level.... I would ride TOT without a FP but you could not pay me to wait inline for 7DMT

It also has a similar problem that Dumbo used to have, once you have gone thru the castle you can see this "mountain" up ahead. Not quite as easy as it was to see Dumbo but still, being an outdoor ride, it catches peoples eyes.

Let me clarify...I only meant that in theming it is at the same level. I agree 100% with you...there is no comparison when it comes to the actual ride experience. ToT is BY FAR the better attraction. It is the only ride at Disney that I am actually a little nervous to go on every time. I find it a spooky and the ride itself is totally thrilling. 7DMT has great theming but it's a nice stroll in the park ride wise!

One is a thrill ride for teens and adults, the other is a slightly less thrill ride for the family, including younger children. You really can't compare the two that way. They are not supposed to be on the same level. 7DMT is simply a fun ride that is themed very well in keeping with the animation. TOT is incredibly themed in a different way. Then again, your comment had nothing to do with themes.
