Why is 7DMT ride so popular?

It's new and it is being advertised on everything. The Disney Pin Code offers have it, website, billboards, maps, etc. So of course everyone "has" to go on it.

I was on it once and was underwhelmed by it. It isn't on my must do list, but will try it again once things calm down a bit.

For me, I think it's one of the most magical rides in the park. Not only do you get the thrill of a few drops (even if they are small in comparison to bigger coasters), but you get all the enchantment of a dark ride. When you go up the lift hill and "Heigh Ho" starts playing and the whole train claps along...I get chills every time.
We did that during our first ride for that attraction during our Senior Trip.

It's a great coaster for kids, first-timers, folks who are afraid of insane-make you puke and get dizzy coasters. It's nicely themed, newish and in Fantasyland. Apart from that, I have no idea why...
The Seven Dwarfs Mine Train is the only outdoor roller coaster along with Big Thunder Mountain that I actually love riding compared to other coasters you would usually see at Six Flags and other Theme Parks that have rollers coasters that are very high and I'm afraid of heights!

Yes
It's a highly advertised new roller coaster in the highly advertised New Fantasyland that appeals more to kids than to families. Also the interactive queue entertains the hoi polloi.

Its ok but its even better at night

I'd actually disagree here.
While I usually prefer the nightime versions of the Magic Kingdom rides, the night lighting on Mine Train is boring, much too bright, and not terribly attractive.
Worse, the huge lights that shine in your face during the drops for the slow-motion "memory maker" movies are blinding and extremely annoying.
This is one ride that's better to ride in daylight.

I only remember one bright light section and I think that was where they take your picture. I could be wrong on that though. The problem I saw with riding it at night was you don't really see all the themed landscaping.

My kids LOVE 7DMT! I think I won "Dad Of The Year" when I waited on line with my kids (5 year old daughter and 3 year old son) for 60 mins (yeah...this was a wait time early in the day) after we got off the ride using a FastPass. They wanted to go on it again, but by the time we got off the ride, the wait was well over 2 hours! I love my kids, but I don't love them that much! LOL!

It's popular for a few reasons. Number one, its the newest ride in WDW. Number two, its the newest 'thrill ride' roller coaster added to MK...a park that hasn't added a thrill ride in well over a decade. And finally, it has a lower height restriction than other thrill rides...which makes it available to a wider audience.

@disney4life2008 I agree 100%. My husband and I got on it at night, and it seemed more exciting somehow. I actually went through the queue, kinda cool:cool:, and the wait was only 20 minutes ( of course this was at 9:40 right before Wishes, and it was Sept. 5). We had a "rowdy" fun group that sang "High Ho", and we were rocking our carts! It is way too short though!:(

It's new, it's different and it's fun. The puzzling thing is that even though RnRC is actually shorter, time wise, no one ever says that about it.

That's because it has a launch and multiple inversions to make up for it. Not to mention that it's a smooth ride which is shock considering most Vekoma coasters have a reputation for being rough. I'm of the opinion that coaster enthusiasts don't care about time or ride duration but what they care about the most are the elements that the coaster goes through, the smoothness of the track and if applicable, the restraints.

And here's a number to look at: 2,000. That's the number of feet in coaster track for 7DMT. No wonder it's so short.....

Why are people obsessed with the length of this ride??? It's super fun, beautifully themed, and even has some thrills. It's a wonderful addition to NFL. The only thing that would make it better? Dwarf M&G right next to it somewhere =)
