Why hasn't Toy Story Mania Games been updated?

Most of the guests are under 10.
A few new games would be nice.

Why do the kids get shafted
I dont agree that most are under 10, but the age doesnt matter. Why is anyone getting shafted. Dis simply isny putting money into anything unless they see a benefit of return for them. At this point money will be budgeted for newer projects that will excite guests and give them the incentive to plan return vacation dates. The numbers are up to standard at this time which shows guests are not abandoning the attraction because its no longer fun or challenging.

It wouldn't surprise me if they don't remember how.

They haven't developed a new minigame since before 2010, and as far as I know it's a custom-built game engine. It's not like they can just hire a random game studio to make a new minigame for them, since the studio would first need to learn that outdated system.

As of the most recent information, "Toy Story Mania!" (or "Toy Story Midway Mania!") is a theme park attraction at Disney parks and also had a video game version released in 2009. There could be several reasons why it hasn't been updated recently:

1. **Aging Interest**: The game and attraction are based on a specific segment of the "Toy Story" franchise. As the franchise has evolved, Disney and Pixar may have chosen to focus their resources on newer attractions or games that align with the latest content, such as "Toy Story 4" or other popular IPs.

2. **Maintenance and Resources**: Updating a game or attraction requires significant resources, including financial investment, technical development, and creative input. Disney may prioritize these resources for newer projects rather than updating older ones.

3. **Shifting Focus**: Disney's focus may have shifted towards other attractions and experiences, especially with the rise of new technologies like virtual reality, augmented reality, or other interactive experiences that offer more innovative guest experiences.

4. **Sustained Popularity of the Original**: The original "Toy Story Mania!" attraction has remained popular with guests, which might reduce the urgency for an update. If the experience continues to draw crowds, Disney might not see a strong need to make changes.

Without specific information from Disney, these are general reasons why an update might not have occurred. Disney may also be considering updates or changes in the future, depending on their broader strategy for the "Toy Story" franchise and related attractions.
Is this a ChatGPT response

It definitely reads like one.
Yes. As far as I read, there is no written policy against using ChatGPT or responses generated by a bot pr machine using AI on the forums. Also, due to Autism, I do have difficulties with communication and may have to rely on ChatGPT. I see all rules in black and white. I assume this is not an academic setting so University rules and University code of conduct do not apply here (whereas in University or College or in any school, using ChatGPT to write a paper would be considered plagiarism, but this is only applicable in the College or University). The terms of use for ChatGPT states that users can use the generated responses anywhere especially since it is machine generated.

Agreed. The most noteworthy thing about this ride to me is how underwhelming it is compared to similar, newer attractions at other theme parks. A complete overhaul wouldn't go amiss.

There is no stated policy - yet - but common courtesy would be to respond using your own thoughts and phrasing rather than having it written by ChatGPT.

Most computers have spellcheck and grammar checkers to "correct" any errors in what you have written.

I will have a formal policy soon, but until then, it's OK to use AI to fix grammar, spelling - to improve readability. But it is not OK to use AI to create an entire post. We want this forum to be based on real human experience and knowledge.

Toy Story Mania opened in May 2008. I do believe the backend software was orginally created on Windows XP. I am not sure if that has been updated or not.

But why hasn't the games been updated since 2010 (one minor game change with the release of Toy Story 3).

I do believe in orginal press releases Disney said how easy it would be to update to new games.

Thoughts!
What would be the value of doing an update? Anytime you have a project in any company the management will require you to run a financial analysis on the project.... you put in the cost of doing the project and the revenue it brings in or reduction in costs it brings... Updating the games wouldn't save money, it wouldn't generate revenue... it would just be a cost that at best generated some amount of additional customer satisfaction... I think it has been shown that the current management doesn't give a rat's about customer satisfaction so if it doesn't save money or generate revenue it ain't going to get the time of day.

And this isn't surprising in any company. I knew of airlines that still clung to IBM mainframes for their scheduling year after the fact that IBM had stopped making the mainframes they used... But the system worked and they saw zero reason to move into the future with an update. I remember they even pay millions to IBM to reopen a plant once because they needed to replace some of their system and it was still cheaper to do that than update the system.... Don't expect companies to ever update existing things... they rarely want to do that if what they have works, even if it is only scraping by.

TSM should be the ideal candidate for seasonal overlays, you could have a whole series of games for easter, Halloween, Christmas etc that you drop in through the year. Im really surprised they never did this in Tokyo or California where they have a bigger percentage of local visitors
