Why does everything hit unexpectedly right before vacation?

OK, vacation is not supposed to be this stressful, but everything is hitting at the same time and make it such a pain to be ready to go...

1. Work can't seem to find its elbow from its (you know what)
2. $1000 in vet bills for the dog
3. $900 hot water heater
4. Dog completely split the pad of his foot through with the claw almost completely off. No clue what that is going to cost when he goes to the vet again today.
5. I know I can't control it, but Winter seems to finally be starting. It looks like most of our trip will be 60s/40s and wet.

I am still happy to be going, but it is just such a PITA at the moment to be excited. I am just waiting for the next "big" thing to happen in the next week.

Boy this is a common theme I guess , I had some "extra cash" last summer, so when my wife said that she had a conference in Orlando this spring I started shopping for a deal.I got a great price on a package and I pounced on it.Everything was going great until Jan 6th when my knee locked up and I had to have my fourth surgery on the 24th .To make a long story short I am probably going to be returning to work about a week before my vacation starts.Common sense would tell me to cancel, but we really need to get out of town with the kids plus I'm sure it would cost me to cancel at this point .So it's off to my favorite place in five more weeks!

Ever see right outside Peter Pan and Small World when it rains? It turns into Lake Fantasyland...

Does a bounced check count???? Just a bad morning, but I think I've shaken it off, adjusted my poor attitude and found a pretty good solution. Keep swimming!

Well, what I thought wasn't much turns out to be severe whiplash. I have PT, massage, and chiro appts up until I leave now. No Space Mountain, ToT, RnRC, and almost all water slides will be out.

I am still going on vacation and going to have a good time. If I only have to do rides my daughter wants to do, that is perfectly fine with me.

For the rain, simply take rainsuits instead of ponchos and enjoy the park no matter how hard it rains. We do that and we can get on everything with no wait.
And thank whoever you believe in it's things that can be controlled. I was diagnosed with a rare cancer two weeks ago. We are suppose to go April 3 - 7 as a graduation present for my daughter. I have surgery March 13th. For any of you who pray, please say special prayers for me that it hasn't spread. This will be my second bout with cancer. This one however means possibly losing one or two fingers and no real treatment since it's rare.
This site is what has been keeping me sane for the last couple of weeks. Now my pity party is over.
Thanks for any prayers.

Look at it this way...sounds like you REALLY need a vacation! ;)
This is what I was thinking. Because you are having such a rough time right now, you will appreciate the break from day-to-day life and all its troubles even more!

When you drive or fly away, you'll be twice as happy to be going!

Have a great trip!

I don't know if it will make you feel any better, but that hot water heater could be worse. We had ours go out last fall and it was over $1500 b/c of ours being in 3rd story attic space. Still, like you said- you're going on vacation :) Definitely reason to be happy/excited.

My bread always lands jelly-side down! I wake up every morning expecting it and the days it actually doesn't happen....well, it's like a gift from the heavens!!!

I got a call on my cell phone while in line a Kilamanjaro Safari last October that one employee's wife was in labor so he would be out for a week (kind of knew that was coming), another's stepmother passed away so he would be out for two days and "oh yeah, by the way the box truck has two flat tires what should we do?".....EARRRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

I feel your pain! We always find getting ready to go on vacation so stressful. I think everytime we go, we wonder why we bother. Before we went on our January trip:

1. Furnace died a week before we left. Wanted to get it replaced so that our house/pet sitter wouldn't freeze to death along with our pipes = $3800 + all the stress of getting estimates and having it done in a limited amount of time.
2. One of our horses developes a sinus infection the day before we leave at 4 pm after vet closes. Have to deal with that while in FL and have friend pick up and give meds.
3. Brake lines go in my truck before we go = $550

With all the money we spent before we left, we felt guilty about going but its paid for already and we know we will ultimately have a good time. This time, we probably had the most go wrong than we ever have before! Now to wait for our tax return so we can pay off the furnace bill.
