Why does Disney send you "unique offer codes" if no (or few) rooms are available?

Got a "unique offer code" emailed to me today for 30% off, which was a double slap in the face because:

A) my partner will take me to freaking divorce court if I demand to go again anytime soon.... and

B) there were no rooms!!

I mean I had to look! And yeah, I exaggerate - there were a few very, very expensive rooms here and there (like over $1500 per night to stay at the Poly ), but for us mere mortals, nothing remotely affordable even with 30% off.

Why would they even bother emailing this? I looked at room availability within fifteen minutes of getting the email, and nothing much at all available. Hopefully others have better luck! :)

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
They sent it to many people and those people took advantage of it before you. They know not all will take advantage so send to many maybe even days before you etc, and it's a first come first serve situation with only a limited amount of rooms usually with each offer code. Hope one day you get a chance to use one. Also did you just look online or call? Calling sometimes lately has been better for booking the website has been buggy. :)

I got one for Disneyland, since i'm a west coaster and they figured I wouldn't want to go back to WDW so soon. They only had Paradise Peir at 300 a night. For those that don't know, Grand Californian has an entrance into DCA, The Disneyland Hotel has the monorail into the park. You have to be pretty much be their guests to use those convenience. Paradise Pier hotel is on the back side of DCA, and has no direct access, you walk or use shuttle to Downtown Disney let off near the central promenade for both parks. These three are On Property accommodations, the rest are good neighbors who also are right across the street from the parks. Most of the on property perks are for those three. All EMH are available on property, but good neighbors only get certain days of EMH and such for perks. The rest of the places you can get for a third.

I've been booking early Dec trips for many years - never seen availability so tight or prices so high. Maybe their pricing strategy has changed to mirror Universal? Uni has a habit of releasing a few discounts early on, but more closer to actual trip dates. I heard it was due to heavy biz convention bookings - they hold big room blocks - then release unsold rooms back into the system.

I also noticed Orbitz is "sold out" on many lower priced WDW choices - used to book there often as it worked out cheaper with the codes. But looks like they're releasing fewer rooms to these third parties as well, probably to avoid the revenue hit.

Its one of those things.... as soon as the mailbox is opened and the offer gets into the hand....

people scramble to the phone and bookings get made. Disneys counting on a large percentage of the offers to be grabbed up immediately. They know from past mailings that a huge number of Disney fans cant pass up a 30% deal. Some people can go to Disney without having to plan out vacation dates far in advance. Weve gotten offers before but the dates dont work out for us.

My wife and I were thinking of going to Disney for our 25th anniversary. We decided we could only go if we were able to use a pin code (When did they start using "unique offer code", anyway?). We got one in the mail and called to use it. Of course there weren't any rooms left in our price range. But... now we have the bug. Needless to say, we have a full price anniversary trip planned for mid December.
Disney knows exactly what they are doing.

I see that in DLR they have new plans to expand the east promenade, to move security screening there and add another parking garage with a ramp off I-5. This change comes with making a new overpass over the road and all pedestrians will have to use the new Disney East transportation and security center to enter from the East. All the hotels that are on the east side which include our favorite good neighbor hotel Howard Johnson used to have a signaled crosswalk that everyone crossed at to enter the central promenade and the security stations right by the front of the parks. Now all these hotels are either going to have to arrange an entrance on the back side of their property into the East promenade or every one will have to walk around the block to enter the new Disney East entrance. Seeing this makes me wonder if Disney is going to still make big offers to stay at the three on property hotels because they are making it way harder to stay off property and spend off property.

Disney has become very, very arrogant in thinking you will throw down the cash to stay in the bubble to matter what it takes.
