Why does Disney put up with the Sci-Fi Drive In?

the menu choices are way too limited...
the film loop is way too short... you can easily see the loop 2.x times in a single sitting

Expand the menu (something that is the complete opposite of what is happening in Disney dinning these days ) and lengthen the film loop

If they did lengthen the loop, some guests would be tempted to stay longer than unnecessary to eat, thereby reducing their hourly capacity, thereby increasing wait time, which is directly proportional to customer satisfaction.

Eat faster.

It comes down to this...Give the people what they want. Its working on some level because its been there so long. There are many places to choose from to accommodate everyone's tastes and as well all know, there is no accounting for taste.

Its not my cup of tea, we avoid it. We usually don't eat at MGM anyway since we aren't there long enough, its not our favorite park.

Honestly, the short loop is very likely done on purpose. Its not like you are sitting there, soley focused on the film for 45 minutes. I have been there probably half a dozen times and still see new stuff....

The "Powers that Be" may be hearing you all. When I was in the Studios last week, I was asked to complete a fairly detailed survey on the dining offerings in the park.

Ironically, when they asked me, I was on my way to the First Aid station to get some TUMS. The pizza at Toy Story Pizza Planet had given me a miserable case of heartburn...

Bring me my food faster so I can eat it after a busy in the parks.

We went on our last trip and while I knew not to expect the same quality as other WDW restaurants.... we were not that impressed. Theming is neat for the first time and after that the poorer quality and service can not be made up for by any amount of theming. With so many other options, Sci-fi will not be in the plans any time soon.

If you can see the loop in the time it takes 2 people to eat a one plate meal.. then its too short. This isn't 3hr multi-course dinners we are talking here.

Not trying to be mean, but if you keep seeing new stuff, I'd suggest paying more attention ;)

Some people still know the art of conversation at mealtime.

They are not tied to the TV at EVERY meal.

Nice attempt at attacking me.. but the fact remains the same.. the loop is short.. and is a CENTRAL part of the attraction.

Oh.. and which direction are you seated? COINCIDENCE? What's next, I should eat with my eyes closed?

Let us all remember, its not what you say, but how you say it that counts.

The fact remains that its a popular place with some, while others avoid it...just like every other restaurant in WDW. There has to be something to cater to every whim and taste. I agree that the latest makeover of the menus in all the restaurants leave something to be desired. I, personally, blame the popularity of the dining plan. WDW has had a dining plan for years, but making it free (or discounted) really upped its popularity and that has, IMHO, led to the decline in quality of many of the restaurants as the guest learned how to "work the system".

Well, maybe the people I am with are more important than focusing on the movie and the meal....

If you aren't even going to look up - eat somewhere else.. it will leave more seats for the rest of us who go there more then just for a chit-chat with friends. Maybe ABC Commissary would be a better fit?

Not all seats face forward.

Stretching now aren't we? That's right.. I forgot, when we were younger we would goto the drive-in all the time to face the snack bar/projection hut.. it was my favorite spot! :hurl:

Let's stop the bickering, OK? Please remember that we all experience WDW in different ways, depending upon our individual circumstances. That's especially true if we have small children, or someone in our party has special needs. Our experiences are not the same as someone travelling solo, as a couple, or with a group of similar aged guests, just as theirs all vary. All of us will look at things differently depending upon our stage in life; there is no right or wrong, just different.

Only you could be so eloquent while the rest of us are arguing about the quality of the Sci Fi. Well said!!! :animwink:

Not really. There are seats that face each other, to where if you glance left or right you see the screen.

We ate there once and will not be going back. The food was not horrible but not great. It was not worth the wait or money.
