Why didn't The Little Mermaid ride turn out like this?!

This video is something somebody built in a game called Roller Coaster Tycoon 3. It's a really cool game actually. But this is not an official Disney video idea. thing. Someone made this up in the game and made their own custom content. At least I'm 99% sure.

Perhaps someone with the Little Mermaid special edition blu-ray can confirm whether or not it appears there.

It is an official Disney ride through based on the plans for the attraction set to open as part of Euro Disneyland Phase II. It is on the DVD mentioned by @Bairstow and there is even a version with audio commentary by Tony Baxter.

What kind of ride SKIPS the climax of the film it's based on? Even the relic of Peter Pan's Flight at least shows the pirates staring at you menacingly and then defeated on the ship. Not a halfway effect on a small cardboard cutout.

The original mockup video IS official, but it's quite old- at least as old as 2006 when it was released on the Little Mermaid DVD and likely older than that internally.

I feel like there is a lot of hate for the visible ceilings, visible spokes the fish rotate on, and the duplicate sea creatures you see throughout the ride. I wonder if Disney will make some of these changes over the next few years. They could easily replace some of the sea creatures, adjust lighting, and find ways to hide the ceiling. There is no promise it will stay in its current state forever.

If there was anything I could complain about though, it is the visible show lights in the "Under the Sea" sequence.
But at least Ariel GOT a ride. Considering Rapnuzel got a bathroom
