Why did they not make the Castle a walkthrough? And will they ever?

The best that they were able to do in the past several years was a store that sold nice little chachkies and swords. The mosaic is beautiful, but the castle walkway is a bit of a waste of space for the average guest today.
Which was a great little shop with some neat - and unique - items until they changed it to a tart your kid up "Bippity Boppity Boutique" location. o_O

While SB castle has the walk-through.. you can't look out the castle at all (too small) while you can at the resturant.

I mean the one-liner for this thread is.. Cindy has a restaurant.. SB has a small diorama display.

They need to do this for Beasts castle also. Besides the dining halls I would love to see his and her rooms etc. I've heard the library will be featured at Belle's but we'll see.

That Bibbidi Bobbidy ''Pimp Your Daughter' Boutique is a clear decline by degrees for me. Even if one does appreciate it, how many people can enjoy it? You need to be, or be with, a girl of a very specific age to get any sort of amusement from it. What are the odds? A potential ten percent of guests, of which five percent actually visit the BBB?

The restaurant has a slightly larger demographic use, but is still something one will only visit very occassionally, if that.

The suite is nothing but a pipe dream for all but a handful. Only the most determined freaks and bloggers amognst us will ever even catch a glimpse of it.

Then when you add that the gate of the castle is closed for shows, events and fireworks more often than not, and the passageway blocked by strollers and people waiting in line for the BBB or restaurant, then for most guests most of the time most of the castle is plain inaccessible.

It's all way too limited for such a prime location. By and large Cindy's castle remains unused by an overwhelming amount of guests. Which is a travesty. It might serve WDW's bank account, but does nothing for the guest experience. I can dream of unattainable fairy tale castles within the comfort of my home. I go to Disney to be in one, not to find my fairy tale castle even more elusive than the ones I daydream about.

I heard you can't go through the Cindy castle during the day. That's not true, right?
Sadly, that is true. (Or at least feels true most of the time, I don't know about any specific time schedules). The show in front of the castle requires the gate to be closed. The castle gate is closed for much of the day.

we walked through the castle during our last trip... and it can't have been later than 6pm because we went home every night but one before 6pm. though they did close it while the shows were on or about to get started. is this something they've recently started? it's a shame if so, as there are some pretty nice mosaics in there on the walls.

Always wondered why Cinderella's Castle is never used as a walkthrough. Since it was done at Disneyland I wonder why it wasn't incorporated right from the beginning at WDW. They could use the same sort of storytelling as Sleeping Beauty's Castle. I would imagine the Castle would look beautiful on the inside. In your opinion will they ever open it up like that as a walkthrough attraction?
Always wondered this and wished for this as well.
Maybe one day but probably not :(

I see all the above hypothesis but wasn't the time that Cindy's castle built also the time whent he walk-thru at DL was shutdown? I am trying to remember the years it was closed but if that's the case, I'd say the answer is that it wasn't "successful" any longer at DL so they didn't want to budget it into WDW.

SB walkthrough opened in 1957, closed for remodeling in 1972, closed in 2001/2002 completely, reopened in 2008. It was stil very much an attraction in the late 60s/early 70s when Cindy was built.

Used to be able to walk through to FL, and see the carousel from the other side, but now it's a stage show in front (occasionally you can walk through to FL: nice shortcut.)and a restaurant. Oh well, those were the days!;)

I don't agree with the "greatest park ever built" --- Disneyland Paris is much more gorgeous, and it also has a walk-through castle (as well as a walk-under attraction with a dragon in the dungeon!) with gorgeous stained glass windows too. Not to belittle MK, but its probably the third most gorgeous Disney park ever built....Tokyo's is spectacular as well....
