Well-for a time, The Horned King was the lead villain in Tokyo Disneyland's Cinderella Castle Mystery Tour...
Castle%209.jpg

It was a walkthrough attraction, and the finale was a showdown with the Horned King-one younger guest was chosen to draw Taran's sword and do battle with him.

The Black Cauldron is one of my favorites. One of my "fingers crossed" hopes is that Disney will eventually release it on Blu-Ray with the 10-12 minutes removed by Katzenberg restored.

man that sounds epic

You know... That would be a magnificent attraction to add to Adventureland!

The Blu-ray release is in September. fingers-crossed is right! Katzenberg was such a dork for doing that!
Somehow, I just know I'm going to be disappointed. This was infamously out-performed at the box office by The Care Bears Movie, so I don't think Disney's going to go out of their way to restore it or treat it with any sense of respect. We'll see. If by some miracle it's the complete, uncut movie-I'll be pleasantly shocked/surprised.

Well, they restored the scenes cut for Toon Disney for the recent release of Gargoyles Season 2 Volume 2 on DVD, and that's not even a "canon" film. So, here's hoping.

This is kind of getting off topic, but-

I'm not sure I'd place it in Adventureland, but I really think that the New Fantasyland Expansion could have benefited from a section dedicated to the Villains- I don't think we're going to see the long-rumored "Villains Coaster/5th Gate" any time soon-clearly themed and foreboding, so those guests with younger kids who might be scared of such things would know to avoid that section. This attraction, or something like it, would be a welcome addition-Dark Rides and Walkthroughs-which seem to be extinct these days at WDW.

A bit of "Armchair Imagineering", sure-but I think the Villains are popular enough to warrant something like this.

Plus, who doesn't want a picture with this guy? He's downright cuddly!

Awww, yeah little guy-you raise all the undead, you scamp!

Certainly the most metal of all Disney Villains. Raising a horde of the undead to smite all who oppose you? ROCK. By contrast, Cruella just wanted a coat made from stray animals and SOMEHOW she's one of the most evil Disney villains of all time? What the heck?!?

I didn't know that. That's actually really admirable. And a little out of character.

Still-the cuts from Black Cauldron aren't as egregious as the several edits they made to the DVD release of Melody Time and Make Mine Music. Digitally removing Pecos Bill's cigarette, and the verse referring to him smoking (Because some fictional cowboys smoke, and oh my, think of the children), AND completely removing The Martins and the Coys (Because some backwoods area folks have/use firearms).

But-at least they warned us, I guess..

Well, with Gargoyles, I think they pretty much knew that the audience would be Gen X-ers buying it for themselves or other Gen-Xers. Still, it's nice to know that there's a Disney cartoon with a character loudly exclaiming "KINKY!"

I would LOOOOVE to see Up in the parks - being lifted by balloons?! That's a fantasy in every kid's mind. I also wonder why The Jungle Book isn't a part of Animal Kingdom?? It would be the best!

I wish there were more environments. ToonTown was the coolest, and I remember it fondly. I think being able to enter these worlds, even if it's in a museum kind of way, does so much for the imagination. I live in New Jersey, pretty close to this amazing place called Grounds for Sculpture, and they had this exhibit last Summer that enabled you to walk into paintings. So I got to physically sit in Van Gogh's room, the way he painted it. Even as an adult, I was clapping and making my friend take pictures of me. This isn't my photo, but here's what it looked like:

Supposedly, Maelstrom (or at least its layout) was originally designed as a Black Cauldron-themed boat ride for Disneyland's Fantasyland.

I've never heard that. That's really interesting. I'm guessing after it flopped it was repurposed, if that's the case.

At opening in 1998, there was this:
http://allears.net/tp/ak/ak_jb.htm

It was your standard "book report" live show in the space currently occupied by Finding Nemo: The Musical, nothing really extraordinary, in my opinion. Why there's no Dark/Boat Ride dedicated to it, I have no idea. It seems like a natural fit.

Maybe gut Kali and put in Mowgli?

I don't think I ever saw that show.
It looks... really bland, and is "Mowgli" mouthing his lines?

I hope not. The relative lack of IP-themed attractions is that park's best feature.
As short as Kali is, I can't see it being improved by jettisoning the "Anandapur" setting that unifies the entire Asia section.

Looks that way. I was like 10-11 at the time, but I remember being more happy about getting to sit than watching a show.

Oh I know, I wasn't half serious. I just think Kali needs some serious TLC.

And where on earth is Kaa? You can't have The Jungle Book without Kaa!

Obviously it honestly would be a better for in Fantasyland.. Buuuut! If Disney is having trouble thinking of something to add to adventureland, this would honestly fit in pretty well. Adventureland is really lacking some great attractions in comparison to the other lands. Pirates and Jungle Cruise are all that it has, I think this would liven the place up a bunch!

Sorry I know your response wasnt completely focused on this topic or anything. Just giving a reason why I thought it'd be good in AL c:
