The main thing is that in the golf scene a Na'vi (my good friend Ateyo, discussed earlier this sub forum) will be hitting the drive. Also, instead of a hidden Mickey on the ball it will be one of those drawing school turtles. The imagineer in charge of this scene was told to make it a hidden Oswald, but like almost everyone, they had no idea who that was and went the turtle route. Now that they are 87 million dollars into making these massive overhauls to the film, a hidden turtle it is.

That shouldn't really matter. A coaster should be safe for a person of any size, anywhere around the world.
I think the implication is that some people wouldn't necessary fit on the motorbike style coaster seats. But the seats do adjust to accommodate larger sizes, and they could easily do what Forbidden Journey has done and make a certain seat at the end of each row for slightly larger guests.

I still don't think those seats are in the plans (just a hunch, not based on anything), but if they did, I think they could easily make some/all of the seats large enough for anyone who can fit on any other simulator/coaster. The seats already exist in coasters in America (there's one themed to the Pony Express at Knotts Berry Farm).

Yes, I believe that a motorcycle seat ride would be met with its share of difficulties accommodating many an American - particularly an american theme park goers physique.

The only way I see them possibly trying to simulate riding on the back of anything is if they use the motorbike coaster seats. I don't think they will, though.

i think anything involving some kind of "personal vehicle" would be out of the question. to have something like that, and then to theme it like a banshee not to mention place each vehicle spaced evenly would prove to be a bit of a throughput nightmare. saying all of this. i kind of would love it if it were like that :)

Pony Express is a Zamperla roller coaster and it uses a very different restraint system. The black lap bar in the rider's back come up and push, restraining the rider.

On the Vekoma trains, which is what Disney is using for Tron: Lightcycles, riders lie down and pull the handles back. In turn, this bring the back bar in contact with the rider's back. What is interesting is that there is a position that the bar has to come down or else, the lap bar sensor won't trip and won't allow the train to be dispatched.

The lap bar in a correct position:

What I am curious to know if Disney would have brought the Vekoma ride system to the US? How dumb the guests would be and how bad capacity would be. Some would try to sit normally, others would not be able to pull the handles, etc.

Seriously now? Have I stumbled into a youtube video comment section?

Americans have larger physiques than their counterparts overseas - that's a fact.
Rides must not only accommodate a range of physiques, they must also be able to load and unload the ride in a timely manner.
I don't believe such a system work within Disneys needs.

Anybody seen this, yet?

Were you referring to the theme park, or the Flying Theater?
Interesting that the theme park also has a Toy Story Mania style attraction too, almost exact copy of the vehicles.

Dynamic Attractions is one of several attractions builders who have built their own version of Disney's Soarin' theater.
DA's version doesn't seem to have any side tilt to it though, just up/down heave and forward/rearward tilt. However, they can simulate some of the side tilt with the video presented so it seems like you are.

On a related note, I love the theme and idea here with this "park". It's almost like a mini-park with some high tech, cutting edge attractions. Kind of like a newer, better version of Disney Quest.

Soarin doesn't have any side tilt/rotation, either. It's only tilt forward and back.
