Whole lot of Monkeys have moved into Pixar Place

Doesn't seem like too much. From what I can tell it is your standard barrel of monkeys. No more, no less. :lookaroun

:ROFLOL:

Actually I kind of like them! I'm probably looking at it from my kids point of view and I know my son will think the monkeys are "cool"! I hope they're a permanent feature not just up for the opening...

Wow that looks tacky! I like the Green Men. Makes you feel like you are going into a secret mission. Time to put the monkeys back into the barrel. :brick:

Guess you can't say it looks like a Walgreens now!

I really like that they added the characters. Before it lacked a personality and was a rather generic brick building, but now it definitely has a Pixar vibe to it.

That's what I was thinking. Crisp architecture is nice, but so is over-the-top-childishly-playful-Disney, sometimes. I think this area could be cool if totally overrun by the Pixar gang (but I do agree that if they go this route, they need to represent the other Pixar films, as well).

I'm not crazy about the monkeys swinging across the path. It looks uneven the way they have it, drooping much lower on the left side than on the right. I'm not sure if this is permanent or if they're still working on it. Personally, I thought they looked better when there were just a few of them hanging down from the side of the building.

By any chance, does anyone know what the buildings across from Toy Story Mania are going to be? They have the same brick design. Is that where the future Pixar attractions will go?

It's supposed to look "tacky". It will make more sense when you understand it's context. They are cool and anyone who says otherwise isn't!

PS, after reading through the thread, I see the Canadians "get it". Proof that Canadians are cool in more ways than one.

No, there is not much space there unless they plan to gut GMR. Rumor has it they are Meet n Greets. We will know soon!

Now wouldn't it be ineresting if they DO plan on gutting the GMR and adding a couple PIXAR dark rides inside with the new entrances off of Pixar Place (right across from TSM). So rather than meet n greets they would be rides! I know there is enough room in there for a ton of stuff. Just a thought......................................Sorry purists.

I don't think it would be a good idea to get rid of the Great Movie Ride and replace it with an attraction facing Pixar Place. What would you do with the theater facade facing Hollywood Bolevard? I know the big hat it blocking the view, but having a centerpiece attraction at the end of Hollywood Boulevard seems kind of important. It would be a bit of a waste to have a giant show building that is used for an attraction facing the opposite direction of the entrance to the park.

If they plan to expand Pixar Place, I think they should do so in the direction of the Backlot Tour, or directly behind Toy Story Mania into the backstage.

I agree. But you are right the hated hat does block the view anyway. I think if they gutted the GMR they would also remove the theater facade. There would then be room for a small attraction that only uses the courtyard and queue area of GMR. I was thinking outside the box, although I have thought for awhile the GMR's days may be few for many reasons. I really think they could fit 3 seperate rides in that building and it would go along way in solving the lack of real estate that DHS suffers from. Just doing a bit of armchair Imagineering. Thats all.:)

No thanks. I love the GMR too much to let it succumb to a bunch of Pixar rides. The backlot tour is dying... time to take it out into the yard and put it out of its misery. There's plenty of space without resorting to removing a beloved classic.

I have to say, the monkeys look pretty tacky.

Oh, just checked under my bed; turns out that barrel of monkeys actually are pretty tacky looking.

Pixar Place needed a bit of life, and I love that the toys seem to be taking over the area. Since Andy's out, they're having their own free reign. While they certainly don't exist at the actual Pixar studios, that's totally irrelevant to the actual guest. The ride pleases both hardcore disney fans with architecture resembling the actual studios, and gets the point across in a fun way.
