who/what is "TDO"?

Fiction.

This disgruntled fanbase is more than likely under 1%, and not even on TDO's radar. If you took all the people who complain about TDO, or Disneyland over all the Disney boards, I seriously doubt you have one thousand people. If you look at these threads, its the same people over and over again, making it look like a lot, but in reality, its just a handful.

Jimmy Thick-A Disney VACATION....

Agreed! Best post in this thread.

Yes, I realize that by all of the posts you start about your trips. You also discuss what you like and dislike about Southwest Airlines, DVC, and how awful Bon Jovi is ;) I am willing to hear and discuss your opinon. Just as I hope you are willing to objectively discuss others opinions on here.

Of course I am. Opinions are just that. I love a good discussion. I like to hear all sides.

My goodness, didn't mean to stir up such emotion! I could tell by the way TDO was always used that many folks weren't pleased with them, just always like to know what abbreviations stand for:lol:. Happy friday everyone- relax!

I would say its a few, not many. The vast majority of people that step foot in WDW have no clue who or what TDO is or does.

Come to think of it, you have a point. It's like 10 folks that post the same tired things over and over again. A thousand? Five hundred would be grasping if you ask me. But then again nobody asked me.

I can understand and appreciate everyone's point of view on this thread but, when it comes down to it, it is what it is.

I was a cast member (DCP) and being a Florida baby I have been a frequent visitor of The Walt Disney World Resort since I was about 5 (100 times and counting )

I admit there ARE things that Disney needs to work on. I am VERY passionate about Disney and what it actually stands for. In my opinion, Walt's invision was making other's dreams come true..NOT just trying to make millions of $$$ and now that same "invision" DOES seem a bit fuzzy.

But, like EVERYTHING in this country (again this is MY opinion) Money/profit is everything and it is becomming exteremly pathetic. I am a 23 year old college student and growing up in this economic downfall has not been fun. (100$ is the new dollar:rolleyes:) But, I have to make the best of it. I am not going to sit around and complain about it all day long.

Disney may have faults, but they still do a tremendous job at making dreams come true. Disney, despite the cost is still to me worth MY hard earned dollars. It's an escape UNLIKE ANY OTHER. It is my home away from home, it is EVERY little one's dream including the adults like me who are still a little one at heart's dream.

I'm going tomorrow morning so on a lighter note, Happy Friday everyone! Remember, your vacation to Disney World is supposed to be a MAGICAL one so stop looking for all the flaws and enjoy what Walt Disney would have wanted you to enjoy it for :)

Just a couple of points...

TDO, and Disney Social Media, actively reads this and other forums. (Hi, guys!)
Yes, they know who you are.:lookaroun

What is said/discussed here is tracked and monitored. It can, and sometimes does, have small effects on plans.

Some, but not all of the posters who criticize TDO here do so from a position of knowledge. Some first hand, some second. To dismiss all criticism of TDO as inaccurate or as baseless would be doing yourself a disservice. Some of us know what we are talking about, like it or not.

It is entirely possible, even common, to love Disney parks and to disagree with how they are being run. Like with a sports team, for example.

TDO is not some giant, evil entity. It's people, some good...some not so much.
They make mistakes and bad decisions. (Cutting Space Mountain's refurb budget, passing on adding a new scene to Pirates, axing new parades and shows, slashing maintenance budgets, etc.)

The number of posters who disagree with/complains about TDO is if no consequence, be it 5 or 500. What matters is that the message gets out and is seen by thousands of others. Knowledge spreads, eyes are opened. Except, of course, for those who just can't/won't keep an open mind.

People here must really hate buildings. The name of the building where some decisions regaring the resort are made is called Team Disney Orlando.

As for the people who work there, I say they do a pretty damn good job of running the most popular vacation resort in the world.
It's the only division of the company that I enjoy, more specifically disney world is the only resort that the company offers that I enjoy.

As someone said earlier, the obsessiveness of some people here with a variety of things, drives me away. There are a handful of posters who can not hit the submit reply button without including the letters TDO or Meg somewhere in their post or signature. I remember probably not more than a year ago was the very first time I saw the acronym mentioned in a post and suddenly the bandwagon followers started using it because it seemed cool to use the acronym since a couple of the popular kids on the board were using it.

I clearly remember one of these popular kids bragging about how Phil would read his posts. If he thinks Phil actually did read his posts and it's an confidence boost to him, then he can think whatever he wants but this poster should know that his posts are not taken seriously at all outside of this board whether they are read or not. Anytime he feels a little under the weather he returns to spread some either completely fabricated or over dramatacized information and gets a confidence boost from the number of replies he gets.

People can like someting and be critical of it occasionally but some here take it wayyy too far. They are literally living in a fantasy world.

TDO is used as a simple way to separate the management team at WDW from the other groups within TWDC. That is all.

You will not find them in every boardroom.

Sorry, I will be more careful any time I post to not say ALL ever again. Not ALL but surely a large percentage of them. Talk to anyone who serves on corporate level committees or boards and you will hear many many stories of inept people who were placed in their positions on those boards because of family ties, good ol boy deals, behind the scenes deals for personal gains to come later etc. So there are many - not all - who are inept, who do not do justice to their employees or companies. In many cases they serve for their own gains and greed.

Walt's vision was to make money, and lots of it, that was his "dream" for his theme park.

Jimmy Thick-Lets talk to the investors about making dreams come true... Money has nothing to do with it...

I guess I bring a different perspective due to my age... I was born in 85 and rarely remember my trips as a child, so when I go now as an adult I have a hard time drawing a comparison to the past. That said, I do see some problems but at the end of the day it is still my favorite place in the world... period.

Ummmm....yeah...
You might wanna research that a bit.

How do you research common sense? You really believe he sold park investors on making dreams come true, or making lots of money.

And who lives in a fantasy world?

:ROFLOL::ROFLOL::ROFLOL:

Jimmy Thick-1959 or 2012, it was and still is about money.

well, selling someone on something does not entirely mean that it represents your true thoughts or intentions. He said what he had to say to his investors to get their funds, once this was achieved profits came from his vision. But to say that his primary motivation was profit is something I would not agree with.

Nothing to do with common sense.
All you need to do is read a bit about the man, how he envisioned the park and how he actually felt about the financial side of the business. It is all well documented.
