Buzz was okay for about 10 minutes I guess - now it's just an attraction that has far longer a line than it's worth.

I'll take Dreamflight any day! :)

Totally agree with you !:)

I have to admit, I shed tears when I rode Buzz Lightyear's Spaceranger Spin for the first time. The attraction is really clever and fun, yet I don't see the emotional connection...it's weird. I still enjoy it, but not nearly as much as Dreamflight. It's a good asset, but Dreamflight was really part of my family.

Anyway, about that shedding tears on Lightyear's...seeing giant monsters and aliens with that spacey, gooey music is the ultimate nightmare after loving Dreamflight. I don't view it this way anymore, but the first time, it was really a nightmare. I almost wanted to jump out and beat the heck out of the sets.

I have come to appreciate it more as an attraction, yet it will never replace Dreamflight in my heart. I can't establish a connection that I can, even with replacements of other attractions at the MK.

We love (and miss!) you, Dreamflight! You will never be forgotten! (Or If You Had Wings, for that matter).

I dunno... I've been thinking and all "Dreamflight" and "If You Had Wings" were were big advertisements for Delta and Eastern Airlines. Am I wrong here? I mean, I still LOVED Dreamflight and don't remember "If You Had Wings," but come on! Everyone here seems to talk about how Disney is all for $$ and all this, but they closed an attraction, that could have easily gotton another airline sponser, to open an attraction that coincided with the Tomorrowland theme...

Actually, they did have important themes - and it fit that they would have sponsors. (Dreams to realities, etc.) Kinda like GM to WoM. WoM had excellent messages with or without GM...

I, um, er, actually...

Love Buzz Lightyear. I used to like if you had wings when I was kid, mostly because you didn't need to use a valuable ticket to ride it. I could ride Buzz over and over, not once a trip for nostalgia purposes as I would for if you had wings/dreamflight.

If you had wings was totally different from Dreamflight. It is still the same track and basic vehicle, but IYHW used 3-d sets instead of 2-d cutouts. It also had a very catchy soundtrack that someone else already posted. When Eastern when belly-up, Delta stepped in as the Official Airline and they changed the name to If You Could Fly (and got rid of the music). Then, they did a total rehab to Dreamflight.

I liked Dreamflight, but I don't really miss it. The best part about the attraction is that it was so unpopular that you could always walk right on and ride it again and again. To be honest there wasn't all that much to see inside of it, save for the really beautiful pair of scenes with the french cafe and the Japanese garden. I loved the inclusion of Walt and the music that used in that little section.
Yes, Dreamflight did have some nice themes, but they didn't really gel well with Tomorrowland and clashed outright with the Jules Verne theme of the New Tomorrowland in which everything is as far removed from the present as possible.
It was a nice ride and all, with an awesome soundtrack and arguably THE best use of small space in any dark ride ever, but it was more than a tad on the boring side and wasn't right for Tomorrowland as a pavillion. Now, if we could only get rid of the Indianapolis Noise Pollution factory...

Buzz Lightyear is certainly a fun ride, and unlike Dreamflight is worth riding over and over if you try and build up a high score. The garish decor is a bit much and I would have liked it if the art style of the attraction had veered more on the Toy Story side of things and not towards the look of the Buzz Lightyear cartoon. Still, it's the only thing like it on WDW property and was well worth loosing an outdated, neglected attraction.

Well I personally don't like the "If You Had Wings" soundtrack, but I do love the Dreamflight soundtrack (which right now there are only 2 live versions, a clip of the theme song, and the queue music. Buzz Lightyear, well I just started liking the music for it (I was listening to Dan's live recording when I relized it)

i loved "if you had wings"...i remember back in the ticket days it was a free ride....the song was as catchy as yo ho pirates and grim grinning ghosts...it was that good...i think i rode "if you could fly" twice and didn't think it worked nearly as well...so i stopped riding it...the queue area was really beautiful too.....

you do have wings

The funny thing is, If You Had Wings was one of the only attractions I can't recall too much. However, it was an experience. The speed room - with the tilt and fans - I actually remember an exhilaration as if I was flying - I wish they kept this in Dreamflight - and I think it would work well for Lightyear.

And the opening music...I don't recognize it on its own, but when I hear it - memories start popping up. What a score!

Is TakeFlight and Dreamflight the same ride? Because I remember riding Dreamflight all the time, and I recall hearing the name Take Flight but I can't remember if that was another refurb or just another name for Dreamflight.

Yes. The only difference was removal of the logos, and the rerecordings of the opening and finale songs. Opening: same lyrics, ending: same tune, different lyrics.
