Who is planning on buying an iPad when it comes out? If you are, do you alreayd have an iPhone or Ipod Touch?

I would like to see what it does, but honestly, it seems like a really big iPhone.

I love my iPhone, but I just don't see what niche an iPad would fill.

I have an iPod Touch, as well as an iPod 30gb Classic and an iPod mini, but I won't be getting an iPad. I have a really had feeling that we may be dealing with quite a few cracked screens when it gets launched.

I have an iPhone which is basically my entire life because it has SO much of my stuff on it. Before that I had an iPod Touch which was great too but I gave it to my brother once I got my iPhone. Now (although it is not an apple product) I have a sony eReader for my books. Honestly, I don't understand the hype over the iPad. What will it do that every other overpriced gadget out there doesn't? Also, the iPhone does a heck of a lot as it is so I really don't know what they added to the iPad. From what I know of it now, I will not be needing an iPad.

What is it that makes the Ipad special?

According to those that have used it, the large screen (around 10"), combined with the iPhone style multi-touch interface, is supposed to make web browsing in your hand the most intuitive out there. Browsing is good on the ihone, but the extra screen space gives you a more desktop-type experience, with all the beenfits of the hands-on multi-touch.

It also features the Apple book store, giving you electronic versions of many many books.

I won't be. I have a 32Gb iPhone 3G. I see the iPad as only filling a very limited niche market. My iPhone does everything the iPad does, albeit on a much smaller screen, but has so much more functionality that is absent from the iPad. My son as a 16Gb iPhone 3G and a good netbook and took one look at the iPad and said "what a waste".

For someone whose specific needs it meets, it might be a wonderful gadget, but I see that as a very small demographic.

I might be, depending on scholarship funds, and student discounts.

If I were to get it, it would be for school/notetaking/light web browsing for research. Basically for days I don't want to lug my Laptop bag around, too.

Thats a negative sir. I am not impressed at all with the iPad, it is a glorified version of my iPhone. It cant load flash websites just like my iPhone cant. It costs $14.99 for 200mb of data and $32.00 for unlimited, plus an additional $150 to get a device with 3G data capable. I am just overall very disappointed in what potential this device had versus what was re-leased. Also its not a computer and its not a cell phone but it can do a little of both. Im really puzzled as to who their target audience was for this anyway.

I won't be

I don't own an iPhone

I used to own an iPod untill it went for a spin the laundry (wating for a replacement LCD screen to ship)

Honestly, I get by just fine without an iPhone, so I really would have no use for an iPad. It, in my opinion, is also too high priced for both the economy and for the few features it has that are not duplicated in other devices.

I don't plan on getting one anytime soon. Who knows, maybe in a few years when it is more developed and becomes more common as the iPhone is now.

I do have to say that I scoffed and made fun of people with the iPhone years ago, wondering why anyone on Earth would pay that much for what I thought was a glorified cell phone. Well, this past July I bought one and wondered how my life was ever complete before....

I won't be getting one. I simply can not see a need for it that I could not meet with a much less expensive more powerful netbook or even the Android running Adam (when it comes out).

I think what we may be seeing is the beginnings of a foray into commercial development.

The first thing that pops into my mind is medical charts. I deal with electronic records on a daily basis and I can imagine the postives of having the detail and accuracy of an electronic record with the ease and navigation of a paper chart.

I can't see this becoming a practical personal device, but as a specialized business machine the possibilities have great potential.

If they plan on using it in the medical records field they will need to cut it's power in half and quadruple the price.

I think I will be giving it a miss then, I was expecting something mindblowing with the hype that this got, I'll make do with my iPod classic for now.

And ruggedize them.

We keep trying new devices for field use. The number of ways a person can find to break electronics just amazes me.

Yep

I will be getting one. Maybe it is my addiction to gadgets but I think that it would be easier to carry around than a laptop. and I am sure that they are going to be making plenty of new apps for it. I will get my ipad along with the keyboard and case...and yes I do have an iphone and an ipod. (my significant other is okay with it because it means that he will have the good laptop all to hisself again.)
