First visit was the summer of '71 when I was less than 2 hears old. We stayed at the Contemporary that year but moved over to the Poly from then on. I've been back to WDW almost every year since then, first as a kid with my family, now with my wife and kids. Honeymooned at the Poly in '98 and continue to stay there every summer. So many memories! Swimming at River Country, shopping at the old Lake Buena Vista (before Downtown Disney), Magic Kingdom being the only park, Discovery Island. The list goes on and on.

I have never...

It's really amazing to hear people discuss the different pools at Disney world..

in all the times that I have been to Disney , I have never been to a water park or used one of their pools..

I just go to the main theme parks.. haven't saw Hoop de Do.. and never been to the camp ground..

I haven't even gone to the ESPN area either..

do they charge just to go to ESPN? if they did , I guess I wouldn't find it worth the money.. and I am a giant sports fan..

its funny that way.. I am a Parks only person..

heck, last year was the first time ever that we stayed on base..

it won't be the last time , however.. trust me on that one..

my very first trip....dont recall anything from it (or my childhood for that matter....) was either 1971 or 1972. Did not go back until 1996 and have been 10 times with the 11th in 157 days!!!! :)

I've been coming since my mom was pregnant with me in 72/73 :) every year.
Some years (junior high and high school) every weekend for day trips.
Had to take some time off in later high school/college, and when we were first married to save money for a house. But we've been going twice a year again now since my ten year old was three :)
Hehehe, the year I was pregnant with my 6 year old, we went seven times... that was exciting, lol...

My first memory of Disney World was of my getting separated from my family in front of Cinderella castle and my cousin Dania, who was visiting from Puerto Rico, coming back and finding me. My parents bought me a Mickey ears balloons (yellow/orange) that stayed on my wrist all day. When we were leaving, my mom untied it from my wrist and it slipped away. I stood at the door of our truck camper and watched it float away. I must have been about 3 years old so that puts my first visit as 1972. My dad was a big fan of Disney World and road trips and I think we probably visited at least once each year. If we had family visiting from out of town, we made a trip to Disney World with them. By my rough estimate, I've made over 100 visits. (Helps to live 3.5 hours away). Always stayed offsite until I started visiting on my own with my DD and Nephew. My BF stayed home and I just didn't feel safe staying alone with the kids on 192 so we stayed at the All Stars and have been staying on-site ever since. (I'll be back on Friday!)

As a child, one thing that always give me that "we're in Disney World" feeling was the powdered hand soap. I remember that as being a distinctive Disney thing.

If You Had Wings was a favorite...my dad always lost a hat on Space Mountain...the pirates chased the wenches...skyway to Fantasyland...live music in what my dad called "La Coca-Cola" restaurant, especially Michael Iceberg...and at the end of a park day, ending the night with my brothers and I making a made dash for one more ride on Mr. Toad!
