Who else is thinking about waiting until 2020 or so to go back to the World?

You gonna wait until all of the construction is finished?

Just a short poll to see who is thinking about waiting until everything is completed at the World to go back.

Me personally, I am actually thinking about holding off for a couple of years to go back because:

1) Construction is great and all and means Disney is building new things, but....

2) Construction is everywhere and takes away from seeing the World.

Crazy, right? Not sure if I can hold off, but I am seriously considering it.

Bought an AP this month whilst there on the basis that I'll be using it next September also when we return, so no I won't be waiting till 2020. However if SWGE is open next September, I may consider skipping The Studios if it's absolute chaos and spend time at the other three Disney parks and Universal instead

We usually go twice a year, and we already have the April 2019 trip booked.....and were planning on 2 weeks in December.

Totally up in the air on that one. As much as I dig the Star Wars idea, I don't think there at opening is a good idea. UNLESS i want to walk on the heels of the person in front of me, and be walked on from behind.

let alone, trying to get meal without a wait!

Maybe they open in December, And we'll go in November?

So here is my DW and my plan for the next couple years. We are doing a lengthier trip in January 2019 before any of the new things are open (SWL, Rat, M&M, Gondolas, etc) so we can bid farewell to one of our favorites, Illuminations and enjoy WDW in its current state.

We won't be going back until September 2020 at the earliest so that the Star War crowds go down a little and so we can also see all the new changes/additions mentioned above along with the new Epcot newtime firework show. By that time Mickey's and Minnie's will be open in DHS, as well as Star Wars Land. At Epcot, Rat will be open and possiblily something else new. MK will be more or less unchanged since Tron won't be open and Animal Kingdom should also be more or less the same.

Talked with DH and the only reason we would go back right now is if they are going to actually close Hoop-Dee-Doo forever. He absolutely loves that show and told me he would be very heartbroken if we didn't get to go see it one last time.

:(

I hear ya. I really regretted not going when they announced the closure of Energy and The Great Movie Ride in 2017. I really wished I had experienced those one last time.

Last trip was back in Sept 2017. Life got chaotic and haven't had the chance to go back again, but I'm hoping to convince the wife to go back in Nov of 2019 since it would be right after our daughter turns 1. Not sure if SWGE will be open by then or not, but I almost hope it isn't to avoid some of the crowds.

I'm going to go when ever i can and have the money. I enjoy seeing the changes from visit to visit. As i get older, i also forget things or things blend in from visit to visit, so i like the little reminders of how the parks are. if its gotta change, i like seeing the changes happen.

I believe "late fall" is the closest we have to a date on SWGE so far.

Not just the new stuff, the potential crowding, etc. but the increase in ticket prices and food is also weighing heavily on the prospects of a trip. The negatives are piling up as fast (or faster) than the positives. I hate to say it, but if I'm going to drop $4k+ on a trip down... It's going to be when things settle down a spot. Currently scheduled for near end of 2019, but that can change.

We've gone extensively over the last 12 months (AP's), and are going to take at least a year off. I feel as though we've done it all in the last year, and it won't be worth the money to return until there's some new additions to take in (which there will be).

Just not sure we'll be able to afford future Disney prices. Our $780 AP (which is now $860) will probably be $1k by then....Maybe we can just snag a $200 PH for the day. :greedy:

Our next trip is booked for mid November of 2019. I would like to see SW:GE on that trip, but it’s not a deal breaker, and the construction at WDW has never bothered me. The “late fall” timeline for GE could mean we are there when it is pretty much finished, or we could be there during soft openings/just after official opening. Also, the Skyliner should be done and operational then, as well as all of the DHS parking lot construction, so we should be good. The resort construction won’t be an issue.

We tried to go this year - last weekend actually, but it did not work out (no DVC rooms)

Next summer,2019, is not a WDW trip for us. We already know where we are going, and it's not WDW.

We MAY go in the fall of 2019 for F&W, depending on schedules, airfare, and availability of DVC rooms.

Summer of 2020 will most likely be weekly family trip.

The people waiting on SWGE to open and putting off a trip this year/next year might go to book the trip in 2020 or 2021 and find prices have elevated so much that the surprise keeps them from following through. Thinking the delayed bookings combined with aggressive price increases might be working against Disney on a number of levels.

The thought of waiting that long might give me nightmares, it might wake me up in sweats, it might consume all my waking moments, it might possibly even kill me to wait but I'm thinking I just might have to wait. Unlesssssss I can talk DW into going before then.
