Who else here prefers a stay at a Value Resort versus a Deluxe?

We have stayed at all the values(except AOa) and all the moderate I like the size of the moderate rooms better but for the price difference and how much we are in room we just stay at value. I’m looking forward to staying at the new refurb room at POP mostly because of the queen beds. The full size beds suck.

We love staying at the values. We've stayed at OKW and SSR twice and once at POR. This summer will be at AKL (my in laws are DVC members). We like the feel of the values. We love the oversized food courts. My kids favorites are Pop and Sports. The values are Disney to us and we will always pick a value before any of the others.

I LOVED staying at All Star Music. It was a blast. My taste seems to change depending on who I am with. If it is just myself and my husband, I prefer the Deluxe Resorts as they have a bit more romantic vibe to me. If I am with friends and a larger group, All Stars BABY. The theming is so fun! :)

This! The one time I stayed at a deluxe Disney resort I had young children and we are people who rope drop and yet want a big breakfast. We were so sad to see there wasn't a good court. Truthfully we don't spend much time at a resort and only eat breakfast there so having a hearty and quick option for us was important.

we have stayed at POP and AoA and the theme just punches you in the face. I actually like it. But the transportation is horrid compared to the Deluxe resorts. Usually having to wait for two or three buses and I believe at POP we stood on every ride. I know transportation aside was the request of the OP, but it is such a big part of the experience.

If it wasn't for the Swan and Dolphin, we would probably stay at the values more if just for the price. We love the Disney owned deluxe resorts but we just can't justify the price. We spend so little time in the rooms.

Overall for us, the best resort is the Swan and Dolphin.

My opinion (and my family's) is, we go to WDW for the parks, not the resort amenities...our go to resort is AOA since we have outgrown POP. For the amount of time we actually spend in our room, it just makes more $$$ sense to stay in a "value" vs. a higher priced resort. We stayed in the CBR on our honeymoon in 1993, AS movies and music, POP and AOA. I love the themeing at AOA, we've never had problems with the buses, food courts are great, too. As long as the bed is comfortable, the shower has hot water, Stacey is on TV and the food is edible, I'm OK. We would rather spend the extra $$$ in the parks than on the resort. Being a 53 y.o. kid at heart, I really don't have any desire to be pampered at a deluxe resort...I'm there to be a big kid and AOA does it for me and my family.

I think my biggest drawback about values is the motel room style where the room door and window are on the outside walkway, bathroom is the back of the room. There is no balcony and everyone is walking by your window. I like a balcony on vacation.

I also grew up staying at the Disney Villas and then Disney Institute. We loved the space and style of rooms. After that disappeared we preferred POP. I think it has the best bussing of any resort. It’s one stop but so big that lots of busses always seem to run. We’ve stayed at SSR and found the bussing to be terrible. (I don’t know why this didn’t bug us back in the Disney Institute days.) Then last year we stayed at the Poly. And now my parents and sister both own Poly points. So I guess we just needed the right Deluxe to convince us. Now that we have points we are trying AKL and BLT on our next trips. Part of me still misses POP for the theming and busses but I think we may be Deluxe converts.

That is odd. We have stayed twice at Art of Animation and have never had any complaints with the transportation.

Leaving the resort to head to the parks, we never had to wait more than 10 or 15 minutes for a bus, even during busy times. And we never stood on rides to the parks that I can recall.

Coming back from the parks depended on the time of day. If it was right at park closing, then yes we sometimes had to wait longer. The only time I can recall having to wait past the second bus, though, was one night immediately after the fireworks at Hollywood Studios. Other than that, we always snagged either the first bus during less busy times of the day or the second one if it was at closing time.

No, it's not being on the monorail line, but as bus transportation goes, we didn't have any issues.

That's one of the reasons we love the family suites at Art of Animation. They do not have balconies but they have interior corridors. No exterior room access. And, remember, even the moderates are exterior access and no balconies.

And so do two DVCs - SSR and OKW, exterior access, that is.

When we were at POP in 11-24-17, our first morning there, we walked to the bus stop and waited around thirty to thirty five minutes and still no bus. We went to the lobby and they said one is on its way. We still waited another ten minutes for a bus.

We were headed to EPCOT, and we watched as MK, HS and DS buses came two to three times while we waited. DS had the highest frequency and I don't recall one of the buses hitting capacity.

Luckily we were able to get on the first bus that did arrive. There were still many people waiting after we were loaded an left. We also had to stand. Mind you I don't mind standing. I am just stating it.

The rest of the time we there the buses seemed to always arrive within twenty minutes, but many times we had to wait for a second bus or a few times a third bus.

To be fair we only waited for a third bus when we left around the closing of a park.

AoA was a little better than POP when we stayed in the middle of Sept of 17 but not much.

That makes it even weirder, because that is literally the same time we were at AoA. And, as I described earlier, we had no issues at all with the bus service.

I guess that just goes to show that experiences are often different for everyone. Perhaps we just tend to go to the bus stops at different times than you and your family. I don't know how else to account for the difference.

Though their idea is modeled after condo living. So at least you get the balcony. Personally I find that in terms of noise, it doesn't matter if you have interior or exterior. In terms of feel, it varies with how each building is set up

A value resort was not cheaper for me when I planned my trip this year due to having two extra adults in the room and five people total. In values, I would have to rent a suite or two rooms and the pricing did not beat the price I paid for Poly for each night ($310) renting someone's points. Moderates were about the same per night (except CBR). If we were a normal family of four (2 adults, 2 kids) then there may be more of a savings.

Right not I like whatever is cheapest (on property) and that is the values, really the All-Stars. For years I avoided the All-Stars like the plague but when I took my first solo trip I went reluctantly to the Movies because it was the cheapest and I was on a tight budget because I was going to Europe in a few months. I ended up loving the Movies, I liked the oversized Disney decor. My room was clean, the staff was friendly, I felt safe there, and transportation was good.

When I left I was kind of mad that I hadn't tried the All Stars earlier as it would have saved me buckets of money! My husband and I like to go multiple times a year and by staying at the All Stars we can do that and have money in our budget left for other experiences (tours & golf) and good restaurants that we weren't able to do before. I wouldn't mind staying deluxe or at a mod again but for now the values are just fine with me.
