Please tell me about your experiences at Whispering Canyons, thanks

The Whispering Canyon Cafe at the WL?

My favorite place for breakfast! The all you can eat skillet is :slurp:
They have great salads and sandwiches for lunch and the BBQ skillet for dinner while very good is a little too smokey for my family.

We love the interaction with the staff, the clean plate club ...or better yet what happens when you don't clean your plate. I've seen kids marched into the kitchen to explain to the cook why they didn't eat all of their food and one gentleman was taken out onto the patio and "shot" for sending food back. (he was a good sport and played along even falling to the floor).
You have to love the pony express races & the punishment for wearing a tee shirt from a competitor :lookaroun .

Don't forget to ask for extra straws and ketchup! :D

I made PSs to eat here as well in January b/c we are staying at Wilder. Lodge for the first time and have heard many really nice things about this restaurant's breakfast. Looking forward to it!! I hear it is a lot of fun, and also has some good breakfast food.

Its a really good place to eat. We have enjoyed each and every time we have eaten there.

You have to specifically ask for ketchup, so make sure that you ask for it when you order.:D

Oooo! Sounds delicious!

Who could pass up all you care to eat Scrambled Eggs, Red Bliss Potatoes with Sauteed Onions, Bacon and Sausage, Buttermilk Biscuits, Sausage Gravy, and Waffles all for only $10.99/per person ?

And I live to drink my juice from the mason jars! :sohappy:

Our dinner there was awesome! Remember to ask for ketchup and straws. The dinner we had was a great all-you-care-to-eat skillet BBQ, which was delicious! The best BBQ I've had on Disney property, but my experience is limited there.

We ate both dinner and breakfast there on a recent trip. The all you can eat skillets were amazing. Unfortunately we couldn't eat all that much! One thing that was great was that our server told us the milkshakes were refillable. I actually think he said "drink till you throw up" or something like that.

My daughter dropped her knife and so we asked for another one, and they brought us this huge wooden knife. We also saw its matching spoon floating around.

They did a "pony race" for the kids on little broomstick ponies, then afterwards all the kids had to raise their right hand and repeat the "whippersnapper's oath" which said something like: "I promise to eat all my vegetables. I promise not to pick my nose in public [all the kids said eeeeewww.] I promise to jump on the bed in my hotel room. I promise not to see....world or universal." Then they all got a wooden nickel as a prize.

We are going there again on our next trip with our teenagers and really looking forward to it.

I stayed at WL on my last trip and had breakfast at Whispering Canyon the first morning. The food was great and the atmosphere was very enjoyable. Kids will definitely have a great time there (as long as they clean their plate).

Some helpful tips for maximizing your dinning experience at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

*Ask if can sit at one of MT's tables. She is without a doubt the best cast member there.
*Ask for ketchup.
*Ask for a large drink.
*Order the skillet.
*If at all possible have at least one member in your party wear a shirt from another theme park, preferably Universal.
*Very sarcastically criticize the chef.

Might I add one suggestion?

If you have to do something on this list, do one of them.

WC is a lot of fun, and the food is great, & the servers are very entertaining, but they are there first and foremost to serve food & drink. Some people go there expecting the staff to continuously drop everything for a joke. If it's busy, if some customers walk in with a pre-printed list of everything they expect the staff to do, reactions that they're told by friends that the staff WILL do, that customer might walk away disappointed. The staff is more inclined to play along with people who have nno idea that their innocuous equest might turn into an elaborate bit. The fewer expectations you have, the more you'll enjy.

Reservations???

We will be there in January and have all of our dinner reservations and one breakfast at other eateries. After reading everyones postings I'm thinking since we are staying at the WL, and have not really thought much about the rest of our breakfasts, this would be a good place to go. Do you think we should make reservations for breakfast???:slurp:

You can if you want to, but to be honest in all the years we've been going there (we've stayed there almost 10 times and always eat at least one breakfast there when staying elsewhere) we have never made reservations for breakfast or lunch and only once for dinner (there were 9 of us that time). We have never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table as a walk up, even with the free dining.

It is always a good idea. I have gone there both with and without an ADR but if you are planning to go it makes no sense to risk it and not make a reservation.
