While Disney has been fooling around with RFID bracelets...

I just don't like the fact that it's across 1-4. But, I guess it doesn't matter... Disneyland also has guests cross over a main road. And I'm hoping that it is a 3rd gate, and not a water park.

It's all of Wet n Wild plus what seems to be an even larger parcel of land on the opposite side of Universal Blvd. It's more than a water park.

I like the idea of salvaging WnW to make a new water park closer to the existing parks, then maybe using this for a third gate and another hotel or two. WnW's brand name has been tarnished, most of what's worth keeping could probably be moved fairly easily.

Not necessarily. IMO, given the respective size of these plots, the most logical plan would be to close WnW, turn it into a parking lot, and build a new water park across the road on the larger plot. Whatever they build here, it will require parking, and I just don't see enough land here for a theme park. I'm slightly surprised they didn't buy the land all those adjacent hotels sit on. That would've expanded their possibilities a bit.

The only thing that bothers me about this land acquisition is the location. That's just not a great part of I-Drive. Whatever they put there will be less attractive than their current property due to its surroundings, similar to Busch Gardens' situation, although maybe not quite as bad.

If I'm understanding the rumors right, Universal is no where near done buying up land so those adjacent hotels could be purchased soon. I kind of wish they had kept the resort contiguous, but I'm not going to complain because at least Universal is doing something to warrant their price increases.

I would just like to see a new waterpark in Orlando with state of the art slides. As much as I like Aquatica I was really disappointed with the slide selection. Holiday World's Waterpark has more state of the art slides than any in Orlando. Now combine that with amazing theming and that would be one hell of a waterpark.

I thought I saw concept art a few years back for Wondersea, the water park project, but never found it again...either that or I just read a description and I'm going senile

Wonder Sea Island. Yeah, there was artwork out there. I remember the color changing sands and multi-option slide.

Agreed, that area is sketchy at best. Then again, this could be a catalyst for redevelopment, especially if Universal ends up acquiring even more land.

And I think that's exactly what will happen. Uni will buy more land and then do a full on beautification project on their new property to match their current property.

Why???? This is the corporate world why would Universal care at all about what the US government says??? The Russian's love violent American movies and have enough money to support a theme park.

Politics do matter in business. Just look at the various economic sanctions we put on countries we have a problem with. Likewise, you obviously wouldn't try to expand an inherently American business into a place with strong anti-American sentiment (I'm not necessarily referring to Russia.)
