I don't care about the hat or the wand. Whatever. What I'd like to see them replace is the Animal Kingdom icon. Instead of a boring old tree, I'd like to see a Mickey Mouse statue as big as the Statue of Liberty. You could have a skyway-type ride or the monorail going through his ears. His tongue could be real long and be used as a slide. Like Big Tex as the Texas State Fair in Dallas, hook up a P.A. system inside him and allow guests to talk to everyone in the park through Giant Mickey. That would be fun! :)
You can't be serious. :brick:

I like the wand.

I also like the hat, but do think it should be moved because it destroys the hidden mickey, loses the Hollywood feeling, and you can't see the Chinese Theater down the street anymore.

The Hat completely obstructs the site of the Chinese theatre and takes away from the overwelming feeling that you used to get when you walked into the park. My other complaint is those leave a legacy marble slates that also take away from the entrance of EPCOT. I cannot understand why Disney chose to place such large structures infront of the most important part of every amusement park, every building, and every entrance. They take away from the awe inspiring feel that EPCOT's entrance used to potray. I believe that those should be taken out, and then the Hat. Once those are done I believe that the wand should be taken down. Call me an old-school disney fanatic, but i just believe thats how things should be.

We should all write a letter! This idea should be implemented at once! :lookaroun  :hammer:

Let's just finish the whole thing off - we'll put a giant Mickey shoe coming down on top of Cinderella Castle, and maybe a giant Mickey nose sniffing the Tree of Life. But wait, then there's the water parks: Typhoon Lagoon will have a huge pair of Mickey's red shorts blocking Mount Gushmore, and the ski slopes of Blizzard Beach will have a huge pair of Mickey Mouse water goggles draped from them. Now, where to put Mickey's on-again-off-again tail?

Its sad to see people give in to crap put in that was either supposed to be temporary or a hat that blocks a perfect symbol

Hate to break it to ya, but Disney wanted the hat to block the theater. Mann's Chinese Theater is not owned by Disney and was built by permission. It was becoming an icon for the park, instead of the earful tower as originally intended. People noticed the theater more, and it started to become an icon for MGM. Big problem for Disney, because they don't own the rights to the Theater, and can't use it as an icon. So, to divert attention away from the theater, the hat was put in place, and was done as a part of 100 years of magic so it didn't look like what was really going on. The structure was never meant to be temporary.

Disney has their reasons for both of these icons and they should both stay. The wand is part of an ongoing effort to make Epcot a recognized Disney park, as many believe otherwise. As much as Disney Fans hate it, it's really for the tourists, and they are the majority of business, so it's for them.

Neither of them keep me away, I enjoy both, as a matter of fact I'm headed to Epcot in just under an hour, so it doesn't ruin a trip at all for me, I may not like it 100%, but I do understand Disney's Reasoning behind them, so it's just fine.

In the David Copperfield Restruant.... it's not even visible, pretty cool trick!

They may not technically be an icon, but I, too, would like to see them remove those tomb stones that are just inside the EPCOT entrance. They call them 'Leave a Legacy' but the design makes it look like you walk through a grave yard to enter EPCOT.

leave em alone! i like the wand AND i like the hat :p wand looks odd in the daytime it must be said but thats close up - but when its lit up imho it looks stunning.... that hat could have sooo much more done with it - id of had it as a roof to an indoor show or something..... not just a hat stand :|

id add alot more attractions/rides to mgm studios - it seemed quite barren... and chronicles of narnia was a joke, especially as its going to be a HUGE franchise (ok not as big as lotr but still quite sizeable - if they make the other adaptations alot better....) i liked walking through the woods - but REAL snow would of been alot better especially on a hot day ;) i dont even know how it could be implemented mind you :s or how they would represent c.s lewis's work.

Excuse me but the wand was not meant to make Spaceship Earth more recognizable it was already recognized by tourists as a giant golf ball.:brick: It wasn't originally supposed to be permanent and most of the merchandice of it is without the wand. Its a metal tower with a mickey arm on it. It should not be there. Its Epcot it doesn't take a sign over it to tell you that, Spaceship Earth is good on its own. Thank you for wasting my time.

Fantastic! If everybody on WDWMagic gets behind this idea, we'll have Giant Mickey up in no time. We can call it Mickey Megalomouse! In fact, wouldn't it be cool if Mickey Megalomouse was able to walk through the park?!!!

And it could shoot death rays out of its eyes? Obnoxious Brazilian tourist group? ZZZZZZAP! Toasted! Smokers? ZZZZZZAP! Now who's smokin'? Guests with B.O.? ZZZZZAP! Cheerleaders, litterbugs, line jumpers. ZAP! ZAP! ZAP!

Mickey Megalomouse could be part icon, part Robocop, making darn sure nobody messes with the magic. Maybe Disney can have a contest, whereby the lucky guest gets to play Johnny Sokko and control the giant robotic rodent. :)

Personally, I like the Leave a Legact stones. They add to the futuristic architecture of the park.

They aren't that big at all, and are off to the side, so I don't understand how they block Spaceship Earth or take away from the aew inspiring feeling.

And also, they better not take them out, because I have one, and still have a few years left on my guarantee.

Joking?!!! You're a future Imagineer, right? Isn't there something you can do to help make this little boy's (OK, middle-aged fat guy's) dream come true? They've got garbage cans and dinosaurs running around. Why not Mickey Megalomouse? If Disney won't build it, I'll make my own giant robotic rodent with death-ray eyes. Then we'll see who's joking!

Well lets see its a nice idea but not for any of the WDW theme parks. Animal Kingdom is not about Mickey Mouse, its about of course the animal kingdom hence the areas Africa, Asia, Dinoland USA, Camp Mickey Minnie. The last one exhibits The Lion King and Pocahontas, so a giant Mickey statue talking to random people and shooting them with lazer rays is hardly appropiate. But don't stop coming up with ideas just try to think what could fit in a little better... :lookaroun By the way "future Imagineer" means the career Im looking into, so that doesn't mean literally.

I think both should be left exactly where they are at. I personally like the wand on Spaceship Earth, but I was skeptical at first about the hat at MGM. I didn't like the Great Movie Ride being taken over as the centerpiece of the park. However, I vote to leave them where they are at.

"Like a grand and miraculous spaceship..."
