Which would a 10 year old girl like more: Crystal Palace or Royal Table?

Friend of mine is going to disney world with his 10 year old daughter next year. He's never been there before and I tried to book him some good dinners like Liberty Tree in Magic Kingdom, Ohana's, Sci Fi, Whispering Canyon, etc..

But one night I have a choice of booking him either Crystal Palace dinner or Cinderellas Royal Table dinner.

I'm really having trouble deciding which would be better. Is the poo themed Palace too youngish for a 10 year old girl? Which is more fun for her you think?

Any advice appreciated!

BTW, me and my wife are booked for our first try at the crystal palace breakfast.. we are never too old for that stuff ourselves lol :sohappy:

I know plenty of ten year olds that like the pooh characters and would like that buffet. They are very different places though. Take a look at the menus and that should help you decide.

we have done Crystal Palace twice for dinner, Cinderella once for breakfast -- on my daughter's 4th birthday.

I think it comes down Princesses or Pooh characters, and which the little girl prefers more.

Personally, I liked Crystal Palace more. It just seemed to be a little bit more entertaining. But possibly the Royal Table is different at dinner time.

Good luck, either way, I think they'll enjoy.

Choices

IMHO Royal Table is absolutely the way to go.

We have taken ours over the years and we have progressed from CP to RT as they are now 9 and 6. They love the interaction and are made to feel as "princesses" and not "little kids".

Also Liberty Tree is amazing. Have fun.

My two daughters are now 16 and 13. We've been to both, and honestly, it depends on the child. Have you asked the daughter? Does she like fancier sit-down meals (palace) or buffet (chicken, pizza, mac&cheese, lots of desserts)? My older one always prefers the Pooh characters. The Crystal palace is buffet-style, is louder, but is (IMO) more lively and "fun". My younger, girl-ier daughter liked CRT because of the Princess face characters at breakfast and being "waited on". The palace is definitely more "dignified". However, I don't believe you get the princesses at dinner like you do at breakfast (that's why getting breakfast ADRs are so difficult).

For a fun time at dinner, I'd probably suggest the Crystal Palance. They are both great places, and I'm sure your friend and his daughter will have a wonderful time either way. Sounds like you have some good other choices picked out for them also!!

I think that it just depends on the child. I have an 11 year old girl who adores pooh &I eeyore. So she wants to go to CP everytime. Now, my 6 year old daughter loves the princesses and just loved the castle. So it depends on what kind of girl you have.:)

To the best of my knowledge there are no princesses at the Royal Table Dinner except Cinderella in the lobby for pictures. I think that the Crystal Palace is a lot of fun, they also do the character parade with the children and the food is pretty good too.

I'm pretty sure that now, due to overhwelming demand, every meal in CRT is a Princess Meet and Greet. I know, at the very least, this is true for lunch, maybe not dinner.

As far as the question at hand, without knowing the little girl, it's not even an educated guess. I have nieces that'd definnitely prefer big hugs from Eeyore, and some nieces that would want to talk with Cinderella and Peter Pan. Talk with the kid.

Oh, and if you're going to Sci-Fi, I'd recommend going during lunch. Their burgers is about the only thing on the menu that even resembles tastiness, and you'll really regret paying the dinner prices (more than lunch prices) for such truly fair-to-bad food. Or else, consider going anywhere else in The Studios for dinner, even counter service, and then, after the dinner rush, go to Sci-Fi for shakes or sundaes (which is pretty hard to mess up).

Can someone tell me how the dinner works at the castle now, meaning is it all you care to eat like Liberty Tree Tavern is? I thought I had heard that but cannot find that information. Thanks

According to allearsnet.com, it's a fixed price menu, like the buffets are fixed price, which might confuse people into thinking it's a buffet meal. But it's not. You choose an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert from a limited selection.

Here are the details

Adults: $39.99

Children 3-9: $24.99

As of February 1, 2006, Cinderella's Royal Table Dinner
is a fixed-price, set meal, hosted by the Fairy Godmother,
who will lead the observance of special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries.

When you arrive at Cinderella Castle for your reservation,
a photographer will be on hand to take pictures of your group in the lobby,
before you are seated in the dining room.
A package with four 4x6 prints and one 6x8 print of your photo,
as well as one 6x8 print of Cinderella Castle,
in a Cinderella photo holder (valued at $29.95 plus tax)
will be delivered to you during your meal,
which will be from a fixed-price, set menu.
(One photo package per party of 1-4;
two photo packages for parties of 5-8, etc.)

In addition, you will receive a special,

I have 2 girls, aged 5 and 9. When they were little, they both loved the Pooh characters. When they got a little older, they loved the princesses. My 5year old still does. Now that my eldest is 9, she is really into Eyeore (sp). She has Eyeore folder, pencil case, school bag etc. So you could check what the little girl likes, to be safe, as their age makes a big difference.

P.S. we had lunch at CRT last October, and we saw the Fairy Godmother and Cinderella in the lobby, and Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, Belle and Mary Poppins in the restaurant. The other good thing about this restaurant, is that you actually go inside the castle, which was a huge treat for my girls.

We've eaten dinner 2x at CRT in 2005 and 2006, and 2x at Crystal Palace as well. Both were dinners.

At Cinderella's they take your pic with the princess in the lobby..then it's a fixed dinner. I thought the prime was was excellent!

We also liked Crystal Palace a lot, the food there was buffet and the kids loved it! We got all of the characters autographs and pictures from there as well!!

We had my daughter's 4th birthday party in the castle this year and she dressed up like Cinderella... priceless!! This is a 2005 pic though from my website ...
