Which week is better?

I'm starting to plan my next WDW vacay, and am stuck between 2 different weeks: Nov. 8th - 15th or Nov. 29th - Dec. 6th?

My factors when deciding are: (1) weather, (2) crowds, (3) activities, and most importantly (4) discounts available.

I know that the F&W festival would still be going during the first option, but the Epcot Christmas stories wouldn't be going until the second option. My DH and I are foodies, but I think my kiddos would like the Christmas stories - but I'm not sure?

I have no idea about weather at those times, the crowds or the discounts...

I need your help deciding! Please comment on which answer you chose!

Thanks in advance!! :)

I would avoid Thanksgiving weekend. While it is not the busiest time of year, the 4 days that make up Thanksgiving weekend tend to be really packed.

My first priority would be price. I would check mousesavers to see which week is more expensive.

My next priority would be crowds. The further away from Thanksgiving, the better. Thanksgiving is 11/27/14, so either week wouldn't bee too bad.

I would pick the second week because all of the Xmas stuff will be up and there is NOTHING like WDW at Xmas time.

The Food and Wine Festival is good, but if you are holiday mode, nothing beats Disney decked out in Christmas splendor. All the Christmas events will be happening during the latter dates and there will be special holiday foods as well.
If next year is like this year, free dining will be an option during your first option but not your second. Don't know if that will make a difference or not.

Just got back from WDW (11/16- 11/23). Great time to go. Temps were in the high 70s, low 80s during the day with lows in the mid 60s. Brought jeans and sweatshirts and never needed them. Shorts and T-shirts all week. It was hot enough during the day to use the pool a lot. The crowd levels were very low. Never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride. We had FP+ for Test Track, Soarin and TSMM but those lines did get longer. The Christmas stuff was mostly all up and running which was very cool. All of the fall ride refurbs were done and they generally don't take anything offline from Thanksgiving to after New Years. The downside to the earlier week is slightly larger crowds due to food and wine and possibly Jersey weekend. The first 2 weeks of December have very low crowd levels in general.

Between Thanksgiving & Christmas is my favorite time.
Low crowds, Christmas decorations, good weather.
We went until my son got too old to take him out of school.

Bear in mind they do not offer the Christmas Party during the Thanksgiving week and the week following it, this year the party returns on December 6th. So if Christmas is your priority you'd need to adjust your dates to fit the party into your plans if you plan to attend it.

I prefer the low crowds of November 8-15 plus Food & Wine.

MVMCP is back tonight (12/1) but it is sold out. They don't run it during Thanksgiving week because they don't want to shut MK down at 7PM during the high crowd week. The EPCOT candlelight Christmas thing usually starts right after Thanksgiving. This year it was last Friday. If you want to hit MVMCP, EPCOT candlelight and Osbourne lights you have to wait until December. Depending on where you stay not all of the resorts will be fully decked out for Christmas by 11/15. We were there from 11/16-11/23 this year and CR had a lot of the decorations up at check-in, but they were still hanging the massive wreath next to where the monorail goes through on Wednesday or Thursday.

Your information isn't completely right for this year. It is true that Disney doesn't do Christmas parties on Thanksgiving week, but it false for them not doing a Christmas Party

The Christmas Party has dates for the December 1st,3rd, and 5th besides December 6th.

I also went to WDW in 2010 for see Christmas stuff. I went from November 30th to December 7th of 2010. I arrived the week after Thanksgiving and I went to the Christmas party on December 2nd of 2010. December 2nd was the Thursday after Thanksgiving back in 2010.

I only went to the Holidays once and it was in 2010 with me arriving at WDW during the week after Thanksgiving with me being there from Nov. 30th to December 7th at the time.

You are taking chance on the weather based on what I had to deal with if you go from November 29th to December 6th.

I was at WDW at recording breaking low temperatures at night in 2010. It was anywhere from being in the 40's to being in the 20's at Night at WDW when I was there. Most of the Days I was there, it was in the high 60's or low 70's, but the night Temperatures really dipped down.

The positive thing is if you go from Nov. 29th - Dec. 6th, all the Christmas stuff is up. When I went in 2010, I was on the Dining plan. The thing is the dates do change year by year in terms of the dinning plan. When I went, the crowds on some of the days wasn't too bad.

I can't give you answer about November 8th - 15th since I never went there during the food and wine festival.
