I don't think they will let this get stale, though, it seems to be a sythesis of both of the concepts.

That doesn't sound like our Studios at all....Sounds better.:lookaroun:lol:

I actually think that it is taking the dynamics of a Studios esque park, and synthesizing it with the unique Cali concept.

So fancy words for "ADDING MORE OF A MGM STUDIOS' FEEL TO DCA"

There's no way around it, I've hit the hypocrisy right on the head.

I'll be honest, I really dread them re-doing the whole entrance area. I think it looks awesome "as is" and don't see why they want to bring an outdated Studios look there. I was totally bummed when I first saw the concept art. But...I think Paradise Pier is going to be phenomenal. I can't wait to go back in a few days and see it with the lagoon full of water.

Oh, the studios entrance is CLASSIC. Duh, it is supposed to be oudated from 1940s Hollywood. I think it's gorgeous.

I agree with Epcotservo, a lot of DHS' elements are in play for DCA- not to mention their less than stellar ToT redo too.

You are loosing me, Servo.

No, not what I meant. They are differentiating it. Making it more like a modern MGM but still reflecting the Cali theme. It's hard to verbalize.

To do this to the Studios would be broadening it, while do it to DCA is narrowing it.

Maybe that's the problem....There are less than stellar parts of The Studios that drag it down.

Other than the hat, Name them...

I wouldn't have a problem, if the reasons people don't like the Studios weren't so flimsy yet overstated...

Anyways, last night I laid out my Studios Expansion plan, and as expensive as it would be, it would still blow out any whining about the Studios- without the uncalled for "DCA Overhaul".

You know of my concerns other than the hat/name thing.:dazzle::lol: We are not getting into that again.

Where are your plans?

I didn't mean the STYLE of it. I meant that it's outdated as in it's the same as it was 20 years ago. I feel like it's 1989 again every time I walk through the gate. Can't they think of a DIFFERENT way to be retro at DCA without copying a design that is 2 decades old?

The design is distinct to the 1940s Hollywood. The 1940s style will always be there. I don't see how DHS' entrance being 20 years old makes the 1940s entrance retro. I'm so confused.

What I love about this thread: Nobody understands that nearly all of the DCA overhaul comes from...The Studios.

Carsland- Weak connection, but it just so happens that Cars first premiered in Studios, AlexIdon'tknowifyouknewthatornot.

Paradise Pier- Funny how the first anchor attraction for the new Pier fit perfectly in Studios. Also how the new attraction is the long awaited dark ride version of a show that's been running to packed houses for years-In what park? STUDIOS. What about the anchor show for the whole park, by any chance is it the next step in the water-based show that they retooled the STUDIOS Fantasmic to be like?

Vista Street- Hmmm...Where have I seen this before?

Don't worry, it's not like the icon of the street--What? I'm being told that the icon, will in fact be a building that's been at Studios for years, the Carthay Circle. The new transportation? Funny how the Red Car is all over Studios...Oh, and guess what's gonna' be in that fancy icon

ONE MAN'S DREAM

Hollywood Pictures Backlot-

The test bed for the placemaking of the entire theme park. Let's look at the original theme: Sanitized Modern Hollywood meets new Hollywood Studio. Pretty cohesive, eh ye of little faith? Well it's a shame that tanked because it was gaudy and substanceless. Funny how that Fantasy 30's Hollywood and Modern magic Studio backlot that irks your goat so much was the perfect fix for the area, immeditly changing the structure to that which Studios has always had.

Plus don't those red and black signs remind you of anything?

And hey, look at the new name it has!

(Seriously, stop the Studios hyperbole. Looks like it contributed more to the DCA overhaul alot for a "mess" of a theme park...)

there's a slight connection to DHS in the Buena Vista and Hollywood Sections of the park.. but you lost me everywhere else. I honestly don't see how Carsland or Paradise Pier, or any other land in DCA, were influenced by the Studios. You still have lands like Grizzly Peak area, Condor Flats, Pacific Wharf, Winery/Vineyard, Bugs Land, that are still original.

there's a Bob Weiss video online, in it he mentions that the Red Car Trolley project is something WDI had always wanted to do for the Studios but it never came to be. As to what will be inside the Carthay theatre - nothing has been confirmed. Originally it was supposed to feature the Walt Disney Story.. at this point nobody really knows.

Laura, a couple weeks ago someone on MiceChat posted their own concept for DCA's entrance. The entrance was designed as a train station, inspired by L.A.'s Union Station. It would have guests walking through the turnstyles, as if they had just arrived into California. The guy who came up with this even included concept art he had drawn himself, it was great.

I know DCA isn't really Studios, I'm talking about the overhaul taken on it's own-Most of the big stuff has origins in the Studios.

Where are your plans?

Union Station is gorgeous! I would love that!

Right, I know what you said. Like I posted before, I understand the connection to Buena Vista and HPB. the rest is a big stretch, you said it yourself - it's a weak connection. DCA's TLM ride comes from the Studios because... DHS already had a Mermaid show? I also don't see the connection between F! and WoC. Or Carsland. Sorry.

As it's been said...Carsland? Paradise? How is that from MGM? Some parts are...but others? It's a hybrid.

And I shall read . :D

I'll go over this again-

Carsland

Based off Cars, which is first premiered theme park appearances at the Studios.

Midway Mania- AT the Studios

Little Mermaid- Where is the most popular Little Mermaid attraction in Theme Park history? Studios.

World of Color - Fantasmic the next generation. Which Fantasmic features more water based effects? Studios.

Buena Vista Street - Chock full of stuff that's at Studios

Hollywood Pictures Backlot - Changed it's theme to Studios' exact structure to make it more popular.

They aren't making DCA more like Studios- It's not some hybrid theme attempt...None of the Studios attractions are the REASONS that they are included in the overhaul.

It's just that all of the big hitters of the overhaul starts with things already found at Studios...And that's proof that Studios can't be doing EVERYTHING wrong.

weak connection. Cars had appearances at DCA as well, they did Meet And Greets at Condor Flats and also currently appear at Pixar Play Parade. You can't compare the massive Carsland to character appearances.

Midway Mania- AT the Studios

The Midway theme was designed for Paradise Pier.

Little Mermaid- Where is the most popular Little Mermaid attraction in Theme Park history? Studios.

I'm not seeing this connection at all. Little Mermaid is Little Mermaid. She has attractions at Disney parks worldwide - she has her own land at TDS, including a big theatrical show.. not to mention Ariel's Grotto that used to exist at DL.

World of Color - Fantasmic the next generation. Which Fantasmic features more water based effects? Studios.

World of Color will be nothing like Fantasmic. Sorry, I don't get this one either. WoC is an entirely new concept designed for DCA.

Buena Vista Street - Chock full of stuff that's at Studios

This one I can kind of agree with, though it will feature a lot of smaller attractions not found at DHS, like the trolleys.

Hollywood Pictures Backlot - Changed it's theme to Studios' exact structure to make it more popular.

Only part of HPB was changed to the Studios theme. The area with Monsters Inc. and Muppetvision was changed to Hollywood Studios, everything else remained the same.

Carsland, WoC, TLM + most of the stuff in the expansion can't be found in DHS, despite the weak connections you're attempting to make. I just think it's strange.. people still can't accept that DCA is getting brand new additions that are unique to the park. DCA isn't good enough! it will only get borrowed concepts from real parks!!

and for the record, I really like DHS. I'm glad Buena Vista St. will be inspired by some of the streets found in DHS. I just don't understand the connections you're making about the DCA expansion.

Sorry, Servo, I don't buy it. Too broad or undefined connections for my tastes.:o

Kinda like Nemo "guiding" you into a new SeaBase, but whatever.:lookaroun
