my girlfriend and I are going in a few months and wanted to know if any of you have suggestions for where to eat a sit-down meal. We are on a bit of a budget so we want to get the most for our $ too.

I would ask you to narrow things down some....do you have a preference in meals? Will you mostly be in the parks or are hotel visits an option. If you are on a budget, why not consider the dining experience, it may be just the economical but fun approach you are looking for.

Not enough information! Where are you staying? Do you have one-park tickets or park-hoppers? Car? Prefer to eat on-premises or it doesn't matter? Looking for park dining, or Downtown Disney?

I recommend you get a copy of either Passporter 2006, The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World, or Birnbaum's Official guide to WDW. Read through the restaurant sections based on your criteria and make a decision. Call Disney Dining Reservations as soon as you have made your decision as most of the park sit-down restaurants book up very quickly and reservations must be made in advance, especially for normal lunch and dinner hours.

You have dozens and dozens of choices. Decide on your criteria.

What sorts of food do you like?

For something exotic, I'd reccomend Jiko at AKL or Marrakesh in Epcot's World Showcase.

For steak, Le Cellier in the World Showcase

For burgers w/ atmosphere, The Sci Fi in MGM

We ate at sci fi on Thursday and did not have burgers. I was kind of desipointed with that. What we did to stretch dinning dollars was to bring snacks and eat one big meal for day. We liked bergarten in Germany, Garden Club in land, the resteratant at aninal kingdom lodge. We ate at the california club, kind of expensive but the view was unbeliveable.

I can confirm Jiko at AKL is top notch, as is Le Cellier in the Canada Pavillion at World Showcase. We share entrees on occasion as it is easy to get too full and that's not good for rides! But it would also serve to save some money. Sci Fi is a blast. I prefer lunch there. Good sandwiches. Liberty Tree Tavern for lunch at MK is also a family favorite.

I dunno if you would classify this in Disney dining, but I really like Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney. Its always fun to go to and not SUPER expensive. There isn't one nearby here so the only time I get to go to one is when I get to go to DIsney. The Rainforest Cafe is also really neat. As far as in the parks and stuff, I thought the Sci-Fi Theater thing at MGM was fun. When I brought my brother and sister last year, they really liked Hollywood & Vine at MGM because it had a lot of different types of foods and desserts and it was all you could eat. We did the Fantasmic package on that. Was pretty neat. Those are just some of my favorites! Oh, and the Chef Mickey place at the Contemporary is really neat. It can be pretty pricey, but its always been a fun time. :sohappy:

For sample menu's and ideas of prices, see the the section on this site or at:

http://www.allearsnet.com/din/dining.htm

I also suggest checking some reference books as was suggested before, like the Unofficial Guide.

Some things to consider that are moderate price and Disney different from what you would find elsewhere:

At MGM, SciFi Drive Inn and 50's Prime Time Cafe
At AK all dining is more casual, FlameTree Barbeque and Tusker house probably the best
At MK, I like Liberty Tree Tavern, Cinderella's Castle is not too expensive for a special dinner.
Epcot gives you the greatest number of choices. I would advise against Alfredo's (Italy) for price and what I consider very average Italian. Le Cellier in Canada is probably most popular now, a little bit on the pricy side but very good.
There are many at the various hotels, Boardwalk and DTD, I would suggest you consider Boma at AKL, Whispering Canyon Cafe at WL and O'hana at Polynesian.

There are many good choices, I'm sure you will have some favorites after your visit.

if you staying in a disney resort without a car ..use the rainforest cafe at animal kingdom for breakfast opens early you get a huge breakfast for under $10 and a jug of coffe each! fills you up and keeps you goind till the evening, where sometimes we ate at the rainforest at downtown, or ate at world show case ie fish and chips (yum) or a chinese

restaurants that are cheaper

If you go at an off time, like mid afternoon, go to BC/YC resort and eat at "Beaches and Cream". They have wonderful cheeseburgers, fries, onion rings, chili soup, and large varieties of ice cream for dessert. It isn't overly expensive. Also places in MK where you can sit down but is cheaper try, "Pecos Bill".
