Never stayed at either so I would like to hear oppinions on both.
Thanks for any input!

We just got back from a stay at the disneyland hotel. It was nice, nothing fancy. I did get over to paradise pier for a breakfast, but I didn't see any of their rooms. They are newer rooms so they might be in a little bit better shape, but with the kids, we really liked the ambience of the disneyland hotel better. The pool was great and the grounds were really pretty. Of course, next time we decide to visit, we will be staying at the Grand Californian.

We stayed at the DL Hotel back in june this year and had a great time. The rooms are very nice and the theming was great. The pool was also extremely nice. I stayed at paradise pier about 5 years ago and wasnt impressed, very little theming and it just reminded me of any chain hotel (which I think it was until Disney bought it a few years ago). The Grand Californian though was extremely impressive when I walked through it, reminded me a bit of the Wilderness Lodge in WDW.

I stayed at The Paradise Pier in 2003. It was basically a Hilton with some Disney thrown in. I did have a upper level room with a view of DCA, which was great! Otherwise, there is nothing special about Paradise Pier. I never stayed at the DL Hotel but it appears to be a little more "Disneyfied." It is an older hotel though and nothing like any WDW hotel. The GC is by far the nicest hotel of the 3 and the most expensive too. It is very much like the Wilderness Lodge.

Quite honestly, staying at a DL hotel is not like WDW. There are a ton of hotels/motels all around DL, many of which are within the same walking distance as Paradise Pier and the DL Hotel or closer. There is also the ART shuttle that will take to the maingate. I think the 3 Disney hotels are overpriced, but if money is not a problem at all, go with the GC, as it is the nicest and most ornate.

If you're looking for a good, less expensive hotel the Fairfield Inn across the street is nice. We stayed there 3 years ago and liked it alot. It's also very close to Disneyland. Just a thought.

I stayed at Paradise Pier for the 50th anniversary and LOVED IT! Beds were very comfortable, the room looks just like the Beach Club at WDW. (I stayed at BC in Feb 2007) I had an 11th floor Park View room and it was amazing! Left the curtains open the entire time (well not the ENTIRE time, but you get my drift). It is closer than the good neighbor hotels because you can take the Monorail to the Disneyland Hotel and PP is a 5 minute walk (10 minute slow, end of park hopping day, crawl). I felt the theming was great. Of course the GC is going to be better, its a 4 star hotel/spa that costs about $300 a night (give or take $50 depending on time of year). The DH has great theming, a FANTASTIC POOL (Neverland Pool) and some great restaurants. If you want a Disney hotel at a good price, go with Paradise Pier. Disneyland Hotel is nicer, but does cost a little more.
